Engine swaps for a 6th gen
currently, are there any 6th gen accord drivers out there with an engine swap? i've been looking to swap a new engine in my car, but haven't really heard of anyone else with much success. I would think that the most common swap would be the H22/97+ Prelude, but I've heard that the motor mounts don't line up correctly and the wiring is quite difficult too.
are there any engines that will swap with ease and provide better hp than 150? (i have an I4) Also, I'm looking for an affordable engine, preferably in the "under $3,000" category.
and here's a random question that popped into my mind: What about the new 7th gen Accord V6? it's a 6 speed manual transmission with 240hp. If it was possible, that would yield TONS of potential. I know it's too soon to tell, but all these stories about how Honda has changed it's styles, such as integrating the intake manifold into the cylinder head... and how the RSX engine doesn't go into the 7th gen Civic easily... makes me think that this wouldn't work either.
oh well, just a thought. But about the 97+ Prelude engine in the 6th gen.... would it work?

The J35 has worked, but has NO aftermarket. It would be good for just drop and go if your not looking to take it any further.
j35 with cl-s heads, comptech headers, i/e...now you're talking hp

I doubt comptech headers will fit the J35.
The J35 is from the 3.5RL, 2nd gen Odyssey, and MDX. 240-some-odd hp, lots of fun torque. CL-S heads might work though...kinda pricey though.

im in the process of the h22 swap...my friends at Street Driven in Baton Rouge, LA are doing it for me and they just got the motor mounted in...its almost a direct bolt up..i had a automatic and converting it to a manual transmission but basically they used accord rear and driver mounts and just had to buy a manual accord tranny bracket for my car and i think they used the front prelude mount...now we're just waiting on parts that are on backorder....but motor mounts in perfect with tons of space for a turbo if you want....me, im running NA.
NOTE: driver mount has to be slightly modified to fit perfectly.
i have a coupe but i also talked to a guy that had it done to a sedan accord i think its a 98 also...for that he said the front mount had to be rewelded about 10 cm towards passenger side but i dont know why the sedan would be different since i didnt have to get my front mount rewelded and i thought engine bay was the same maybe its cause he used the accord front mount also.
oh yea..on the j35 if you have a 4 cly accord it might not fit because if i remember correctly the v6 front ends are a little longer than the 4 cly. i could be wrong though so correct me if i am

Remember that 6th gen accords have an 'immobolizer' in the ignition that works along with the ECU. Putting a 5th gen (97+) prelude engine in which has a different kinda of immobolizer system would not work. You have to work around the immobolizer. Some ways are by using the older h22 ECU's (pre 96) or you can get someone to take the immobolizer function out of your h22 ECU. I had that done. If you want it I'll sell it to you. I never ended up using it because i went with a complete standalone computer.
with a J35 engine, wouldn't that mean a hefty price tag and no manual transmission???
No, remember that the CL-S has the 6-speed.

basically, what is the most cost efficient <U>engine swap</U> that will provide decent performance?
I believe someone said this is not possible because Honda switched the new motors to rotate the oppisite direction now. Not 100% sure though..
f max . i have about 12,000 miles on mine since turbo was installed. i love it . it kicks ***!!!!. i ran a 9.3 in the 1/8 mile. that is the only track we have around here
Hey, my roommate has a 99' V6 coupe with an auto. He's debating between FI and a swap. So far, all we have come up with is a possible H22 swap that comes with a lot of problems and the CL Type-S engine (J35?). We were thinking that a swap might be better since we would have to replace the tranny, and that way he could get a manual. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Im not sure if this is true or not but Ive heard rumors that the 5th gen prelude's motor should slide right on in into the 6th gen accord's motor mounts...
As for FI, Im thinking about going fmax too on my f23
