Hey guys,
I have a B-series in my '96 Civic DX......all appropriate linkage and ish.....
when my car is in ANY gear the entire shifter floats all over the place.....so much to the point where you could mistake it for neutral....literally...when in gear, you can move the shifter left and right an EASY 3-4".....
now I just ordered new shifter bushings.....
but is this going to fix that problem? When i did the swap it didnt seem like those bushings were that bad at all....
any help is greatly appreciated....thanks guys

The bushings may tighten things up a bit, but every 96-00 I've ever been in has had the same shifter 'problem' you are describing. I know in mine the shifter will jerk back and forth when I press and let off the gas.

Its not really a problem you are describing, its just how they are... The energy suspension bushings will make it better than stock though... They were definitely worth the money...

you need to read up my friend...
its a problem in the linkage...the clutch has nothing to do with how loose the actual shift **** is.....
ive got a brand new clutch and flywheel.....and the problem was there before and after....KTHNXBYE
to the new age of HT.....

check out the dust boot and the plastic brace inside of it that is over the ball towards the bottom of the shifter for tearing and wear. This can cause the shifter to be excessively loose.

ill be sure to check that out....
when i find the culprit ill be certain to post it as well.....
Look under your car and see if the linkage is moving with the shifter. If so it's most likely the roll pin is loose. If the linkage doesn't move check your bushings and the plastic ring on the shifter.
if in first it feels like your in neutral right, shifter goes back and forth, the bushing, bearings in the shifter itself are bad comin problem, replace shifter

has anyone used this shifter??? It looks similar to the Rouge Engineering kit ive seen for BMW's.....and that kits is SOLID....

Would i need to put a bushing in the bottom hole? or would it be a bolt and washer going through that point??

my shift linkage was very loose at point #25.....
i added some washers and tightened it down, and it was much better.... i also replaced bushings shown at top of page which i think helped a tad....
I know mine is loose but not that loose. I know my budy that has cable shift linkage in his h22 is much more tighter why is that? cable vs rob shift linkage? even if you put bushings in it would still have a lil play? but when I was driving my buddy h22 the shifter was more comfortable than a rod shift linkage.
would also love to know where you would get this bushing, and if it even works?
for that shifter it looks like a spherical bearing shifter. B&M has one i know for sure and im sure a few others do to. it should come with a pin and teflon bushings for the bottom part.
and if it is...they are yummy.

It's a spherical bearing. I actually just installed the B&M one in my del Sol, and it works great. Way less play from the shifter.
I found out that even with new parts 11 and 8, part 11 was moving around inside of part 9. With the B&M spherical bearing shifter, it replaces the stock parts 8, 9, and 11 with the spherical bearing and the bearing housing.
