91 / 99 accord
Hey ima just first start by saying im not that smart yet when it comes to cars and im trying to learn as much as possible but here is where im at.
My friend has a 1991 accord and is thinking about doing a b20/k20 swap into (has an f22a4). I do believe that the f22 is better for his year and it would be more wise to just get a turbo kid then do an engine swap but im not for sure about this so if you could please fill me in on that (he just wants it to be fast"er").
Secondly i have a 1999 accord (4 cyl, auto) and i was wondering if its even worth tuning up...doesnt seem like it would be but lemme know
Just to get a feel about who i am also. I am 18 years old and full time college student so i dont have tons of money to spend on car parts n such (going back to the 99 accord) but i recently have been given a 2008 solstice GXP. This is the car i will be tuning up mostly but wanting to know if the 99 has anything i could do as a side project.
Thanks in advance :D

well the f22a has a cast iron block and 8.8:1 compression so it's a great canidate for boost. but then again the k20 is also a good swap but it's expensive, your lookin at motor, trans, ecu coustom header, ect. you'll definatley spend a lot less on a turbo setup and you'll be runnin with the k20's easily. as for the 99 if you really want to do anything start with intake, exhaust and hust go from there.
Aluminum w/ iron sleeves.
For the '91, a B20, in my opinion, is out of the question. You'd need custom engine mounts and various other custom parts for an engine that's more on the torque-less side. An H22 or H23 is as easy as it gets (in terms of swaps), and it would be probably the cheapest swap at that. If he wants to do a K-series swap, he'd probably be better off with a K24 instead of a K20, but ether way the swap will be a lot more expensive than an H-series motor.
For the '99, H-series motors are the way to go (again, in terms of swaps). The '99 is a much heavier car, but a swap will still provide a decent boost in acceleration. I will note, however, that you'd want to swap trannies for either Accord, as the gearing of the stock tranny will kill any improvement in power.
Bolt-ons for either car will only provide a very small increase in power. Whether or not you can truly feel the difference is another matter. Increased sound (louder intake or exhaust) often gives the illusion of faster acceleration.
As far as turbos go, you need to be able to set aside a decent amount of cash should something go wrong. Some people have great luck and never have any major issues, but many people do run into problems... There's plenty of threads about FI (forced induction) vs swaps, so you'll probably want to research quite a bit before deciding between them.
