Default 1994 Civic Water temp problem

I recently swaped my Civic Cx with a z6. everything is good. just the temp gauge will not work. and im guessing that because its not reading the iacv is shut and causing a bumpy idle. what all comes into play with the gauge. i have already re placed the sensor. and nothing. any way to test the sensor?..

Does the gauge read cold all the time? Have you checked/replaced the thermostat?

the IACV will not cause your gauge to not read. which sensor did you replace?

Not what i meant. the ecu is reading that the temp gauge is not working so it goes into mode where it retards the timing and shuts the IACV to cause the bumpy idle.
