Default Legend Calipers with 23mm Disc - Shim or not?

I just finished installing a pair of Legend calipers with the re-drilled Prelude rotors, and I've heard that some people use a shim with their pads to make up for the additional 5mm of travel for the piston (Legend discs are 28mm). Is this common or do you just live with it the additional travel?

Prerequisite picture to capture attention:

nice...single piston or 2-pot?

what size bracket are you using? (ie., 23T, 25T or 28T)

you shouldn't have any issues if you're staying with:
re-drilled prelude 11" rotors
(using ITR 17CL15VN, legend GS 2-pot or NSX front calipers)
it'll work with any of the 23T, 25T & 28T brackets.

the amount machined of is different per bracket:
23T = 3.2mm (1/8")
25T = 3mm
28T = 2.5mm

except all nsx rotors are 28mm thick and itr's are 23mm so this will bring up all the issues abotu shims and spacers that im still seeing no point to, calipers float and will compress so the use of shims is really not necessary unless your pads are almost gone which i doubt anyone will go to that limit."

The only concern you could run into with extremely worn pads and too much "piston travel" is at some point the piston can only travel outward so far untill seals in the caliper/piston assembly "blow out"/leak. Then you either have to rebuild the calpier (replace seals) that's if you can, or ultimately replace it. It's like stepping on the brake with the calpiper assembly off the car while replacing pads/rotors... NO GOOD!!! (you know who you are) haha!

2 Piston with the 23T bracket. I will not worry about it then, even my old Cobalt Friction GT-Sports had over half the pad left with 2.5 years of daily driving, and I think the new CSR's are even thicker than spec!
