the title kinda says it all. any ideas on what it might be maybe tie rod end or rack and pinion

 

Raise the front end of the vehicle and have someone lock the steering wheel and hold it firmly against the lock. Grab each front wheel and try wiggling it top to bottom as well as side to side. If a wheel wiggles, have someone else wiggle it the same way while you watch underneath with a flashlight, looking for the loose joint.
