Looking for some ideas for my integra & some insight from people that know about catch can set-ups im new to the fully built Honda game & seem to be experiencing a lot of issues, since I went GSR. My B18B never gave me any issues aside from oil consumption, but engine had miles for days on it. Please any reply greatly appreciated. Im aiming at hooking it up from the valve cover to intake tube, heres my set-up.

I have a freshly rebuilt 96 jdm gsr engine & 96 ITR tranny, skunk2 tuner 2 cams with dual valve springs & retainers & stock cam gears,JDM ITR 98 spec 4-1 header with matching 2.5 ITR CAT & 2.5" exh piping to ITR Muffler, ITR intake tube / Apexi power intake, AEM FPR & RAIL, H22A4 injectors, ACT streetlight flywheel, Exedy clutch. Ok when rebuilding the engine every part was meticulosly cleaned, every seal, gasket, bearing was replaced ie main & rod bearings (acl) I had the head redone & valve job & new valve stem seals replaced (oem) I re-used the jdm gsr pistons the engine came with, do to the higher compresion jdm vs usdm, but I did hone the block & install new oem Honda rings. Engine made good power 208hp @ Churches Automotive testing

OK the problem im having is im getting black crap all over my back bumper EVERY day once its warmed up it clears out & becomes very minimal. Other issue I go through A LOT of oil ive only used non synthetic Castrol Gtx both 5w30 & 10w30, I was told by a reputable member on here that my engine has too much pressure & that I should get a catch can to catch the oil vapors before they enter my intake & back out my exh onto my bumper. I obviously have blow by from the hose that goes from my valve cover to my intake tube so question is is this a solution, if so. What's the best catch can set up for me & do you think this will help my oil consuption & crap on the back of my car. It does smoke when im really on it & smells inside my car too. I have around 10k on engine since rebuild swap is in my 99 gs integra

Check you PCV valve. If it is clogged you will get the black crap on you bumper. Two questions for you.
The smoke you see when you get on it black or blue?
#2 when you rub you finger on the bumper does it get oily or sooty? This will tell you if you are running rich or burning oil really bad.
Since you went to Churches I'm going to say your tune is good to very good. You are dealing with the oil issue. What is your compression ratio?

Idealy that style is for forced induction turbo applications though aint it ? Like guys that have major pressure that are shooting there dipsticks out etc correct me if im I wrong. what do you think ?

 

I appreciate the input... the engine has done this since I bought it & rebuilt it as far as the color of the smoke goes not sure & pcv valve is a NEW oem, & basically what I do everyday is wet a microfiber rag & wipe it off & it rinses out. To me it feels more sutish, here's some pics this is from today max 30 min drive. This crap covers my lights license plate crevice's of my bumper

 

Blue smoke as I blurp throttle @ start up, & each time I shift & accelerate, more smoke when I crack vtec smells bad in & out of car

 

If it is truely soot then you are running rich and it is fuel. You may want to have your car tuned again. Make sure the wide-band O2 sensor is before the cat when they do the tuning. This includes street tuning and dyno tuning.

The blue smoke is oil. This is not good.
You many want to look into doing a leak down test and a compression test to make sure you rings and valve seals are ok.

 

I took the car back to Churches Automotive Testing & Shawn himself said everything checked out & its just an oil consumption issue I convinced that I have bad valve guides, maybe the machine shop didnt installmy new seals or they didnt seat them correctly, could they have screwed up doing the valve job ? Car doesnt seem to have lost power either, as far as the o2 sensor goes I only have the 1 in the header JDM ITR 4-1 header with matching 2.5 ITR CAT there is a heat sensor or something that is screwed into the cat thr=at cant be used on our usdm cars, to my knowledge anyways, I tried threading the cat o2 sensor & too small or big of threads cant remember I asked Shawn about the o2 I thought maybe it was bad & I want to say that he said they are ony to help with efficency & idk if mine is still functional with the tune. He mentioned that he re-ringed his gsr years ago & had oil consumption issues too but idk man ive had it with this car wish it was still B18B headache free

 

hmm im no expert but that sounds like either valve seals or oil rings my car does the same thing with the blue smoke and i know my valve seals are shot and my oil rings are shot but what does the smell your getting smell like does it smell like burnt oil or fuel

 

oh never mind just read your post above you figured it out already lol but yea i agree with the valve seal idea
