Default OBD0 dizzy internals compatible with obd2 VTEC?

Hey,

After some insight here, a mates OBD2 B series VTEC engine had a distributor die, and the junk yards have a lot OBD0 non VTEC B series engines, would the internals out of the later fit (and function) in the former's casing?

Basically putting the OBD0 dizzy internals into the OBD2 VTEC dizzy? Yay or Nay?

Cheers,

Steve.

Technically they should work, but they won't bolt up.

The module from an obd0 b16 bolts on lower on the housing, and the coils are shaped differently. The pick up gear on the shaft is also different, hence the reason for the distributor not working on an obd1/2 car. The gear produces different pulses.

However....
If your buddies car has a stock obd2 B16 Distributor then your in luck. All distributor parts are interchangablw from the following cars:
92-95 civic sohc 1.5L
92-95 civic sohc 1.6L
93-95 del sol dohc 1.6L
96-00 civic all (except hx model)
92-01 1.8L non vtec
92-93 1.7L vtec

94-01 1.8l vtec distributors have internals that are only interchangeable between themselves.
