Default Vortech FMU w/ AFC ...

I am currently installing my turbo in my LS. I am installing a vortech 12:1 fmu and I already have a AFC. What do i need to do before starting the car to make sure nothing conflicts? I have no idea how to tune the AFC, I had it set at a performance shop. thanks

my current fuel management will be:
AFC
Vortech 12:1 fmu
stock injectors
stock fuel pump
will this be ok on 7 psi of boost?

NO NO NO NO

You will need a inline fuel pump - 12:1 means that for every pound of boost the fuel pressure must increase 12psi so at 7psi that is 84psi of fuel pressure needed! The stock pump can't come close...can you say detonation!

if you get larger injectors you will no longer be needed in FMU, you just use the AFC to tame your larger injectors....but if you just stay w/ the FMU, you really need a high flow fuel pump to accouint for the needed pressure.

If you use stock injectors, a 12:1 FMU, and an inline pump, you'll be running a bit rich under boost, so you'll need to lean out the mixture up top witht he AFC.

If you run the DSM's with a resistor box, and the AFC, you need to set the AFC to -40% across the board to get them to idle, and you'll probably still be a little rich. You use a resistor box from p&h Hondas (CRX's, older Accords, Preludes).

you can run the hack...good up to about 10 psi...some have done 12psi....here is more info....just pick up some 440cc injectors, and use your AFC to tune...it's simple...here is everyting you need...you http://www.thedropshop.tv/ftp/450ccinj.jpg

You can either get the fuel pump and run the fmu or get the resistor box, hook up the 440's then controll them with the acf. Thats it, nothing more nothing less

do you have a resistor box for the injectors? if you don't then they won't work.

you should get a fuel pump either way....i think you should run the hack. No FMU.

so why is it recommended to run the AFC w/ injectors?
I would think the fmu with fuel pump would be easier to deal with.

Well, i just being able to take more advantage w/ my fuel curve w/ the S-AFC route...but the FMU is cheaper....you have more contol w/ the AFC.

you use the AFC to tame your injectors and if you run the hack you use it to limit your map so you don't get a cel, w/ the FMU your going to have to use a missing link or check valves to prevent the cel.

and it would be more stress on the stock injectors than on the 450cc

but if you use a 12:1 fmu w/ 450cc injectors...your going to run CRAZY rich...just ditch the FMU and run the hack. Simple.

why dont you just run the stock injectors with an inline pump and 12:1 fmu and use the AFC to lean out any of the rich spots.
