Changing my friend's pass. cv axle
Can somebody tell me the size of the giant nut that's holding the axle into the rotor? I don't have the socket for it and needa go buy it real quick. Thanks. I know I should search, but I gotta head out to class right now. And I figured someone would leave an answer when I get back. My bad for not searching in advance.
I lied it was 32mm. Anyways, I'm having a hard time getting the axle off the spindle. I thought it was just suppose to slide out if I bang it with a hammer, but it's not budging at all. I removed the spindle from the lower control arm already. The only thing thats left is taking the axle off the spindle, unless there's another step I'm missing. Is there another step, or is the axle just being a bitch?

Oh Yeah! for got to mention.... to take the axle out you will have to pull the Nuckle to the side pretty hard so it will come out. Then it will be siezed up in the tranny so you should have a small Crowbar handy to wedge in between the tranny and axle. For that you will have to make a hard jerking motion to get out. Man handling it wont get it out. You litterally will have to POP it out. then just install in reverse but make sure you smack the axle into the tranny till it pops in cuz you will have more problems late if you dont. NOW!... Goodluck. LOL
It's really easier than I made it sound. ;-)

I really did try prying it out with the longest pry bar I have but no luck. So I just took the whole thing out along with a half shaft.

With the whole thing out, I still can't pry to two pieces apart.
Ok so first of all, here's the story. My friend's been driving his car with the messed up axle for weeks. I kept telling him to get it checked, but he was too lazy to do so. Anyways, when he finally did get it checked, they told him it was the axle and he came to me to get it replaced. Could somehow driving the damaged axle do something to it so that it's impossible to take it out?

get a piece of board or something solid and long to hit the axle as u step on the half shaft but make sure to turn it around so u don't damage the seal of the half shaft
Aight I got the damn thing out haha finally. Thanks for the help guys. Now, onto putting everything put back together. Hopefully, I won't run into any problems.
Just for reference... the EP3/Base RSX axle but is 32mm and the RSX-S axle nut is 36mm. I know the Base RSX and EP3 are the same because K-Swapped cars that I have worked on use RSX Base/EP3 outers for the axles, and you can use the Type-S outers if you have the JDM 36mm 5-lug conversion. Just an FYI...
