I don't know when mine kicks in...I didn't ever notice it with it being stock and now that it has a turbo I really can't tell cuz of the sound of the turbo spolling up. I think it is around 3500 tho..Try a vfac or open up the intake and exhuast and you might just be able to hear it.
i think i hear it at 3.5... someone else tells me it's 4.5... (on I4) why are you getting a vafc? i heard it does pretty much nothing for the I4?
i got a 4 cyl with i/h/e lowered and extra 500bucks in my wallet..what should i do?

The F23 has a variable engagement VTEC. depending on MAP sensor voltage and throttle position it will engage anywhere between 2300 and 3500. The V part of the V-AFC won't help you out too much. VTEC on the F23 is mostly for fuel economy and Honda got the X-over pretty much correct
There was a whole thread on VAFC awhile back... let me find it...

lots of info... and it is correct, F23 I4 VTEC x-over is variable, it can open as low as 2300 as indicated by my VAFC... and the x-over setting is useless for I4s because the the lowest RPM the VAFC can set the VTEC x-over is at 3100rpm.
I didn't connect up the VTEC x-over of the VAFC, only the a/f part. I am using the VTEC x-over to actually control when my n2o starts spraying...
