Just recently bought a 1991 civic hatch for an excellent price but the only thing wrong is tranny will not shift after second gear. And to even get it to shift to second is by moving shifter from d4 to 2. I have checked the fluid and at first there was a leak but that has been fixed and since fluid level is good. What are the thoughts of the fourm? Time for a new transmission?

 

So I am guessing nobody has any answers or suggestions on this?

 

how bad is the leak? how far did drive? how low was the fluid level?what's the fluid condition?(before filling up)color? tiny metal? did it choke between gears? any delay or high rpm shifting? have to give more detail.

 

the leak is fixed and is no more. fluid is good and red.

leak wasnt bad. just a loose clamp at the radiator. fluid was red didnt smell burnt. not sure on how long it was driven like that but the guy i bought it from said as soon as it started acting up he parked it so maybe a week but it sat for about 5 months before i bought it.
