b16 build! what should i do now??? any advice???
just got done with my swap b16 into 93 ej1! AND LOVEIN IT! still on stock p28 with skunk2 intake, with aem fuel rail, ebay header and intake pipe! everything else seems stock! as far as i know? i have a appointment for next Tues. for chip and tune!!! so when i get the numbers# ill get back to you guys! but my questions is WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?....... yes it is a budget build and my dd! but my goal is to put down at LEAST 175whp! so whats the best way to get there keepin it na and fairly cheap??? any advice would be sweet!!!!!! thanks guys!
Seriously...
Cheap and reliable ....hmmmm
175...
I would throw some cams in it if I was shooting for 175+whp...youll need a decent header back exhaust 2.5" and maybe Pro 1s + valvetrain. ARP rod bolts for insurance? The eghay header is suspect....might want to upgrade that later to something worthy...but it will do for now I guess.
You could always save your pennies and do an H2B swap later

id say with IM, TB, Cams, vt, good header, run it to 8500-9000rpm on a good tune and id say you should be close to 175whp.
and if you save up and get a good PnP and valve job and maybe a thinner HG and i think you should be there.

would it be wise to upgrade vales, springs, retainers at the same time as cams? do i need to??? can you run cams with stock parts?

to do a full VT upgrade you need to have the head off......BUT you NEED a VT upgrade to run more than a mild cam. SOOOOOOO if it were me.....i would hold off on any PnP and valve job until you can afford VT and cam upgrade.......get it all done at once, get it tuned.....and you should have an entirely new beast under the hood.

That is plenty. You should probably sort through the b16 dyno threads to find builds that make the kind of power you are looking for. Then, when you have your build sorted out, just add the stuff in the order that makes the most sense.
Best of luck with your project.

yeah i hear you both! its just i get board real quick! always got to buy parts to keep it fresh and me busy! so i don't get board with the car! and who doesn't like go fast upgrades??? so id like to keep plugin at it! 100 here 100$ there! what do you guys think about nitrous na? nitrous stock? its in my price range just never touch the stuff? any other upgrades? thanks guys for the 2-cents!
i dont like nitrous personally. just like i dont like boost unless the motor has been built for it.
if you do go with nitrous, get an entire kit with the module and everything so it works right. a stock engine in good condition can handle a 50-75 shot just fine(as long as its not all day everyday)..............but ONLY if its setup right.

now i could understand if you had a D16b7, but you have a B16 which is plenty of fun........
but thats just my opinion.
i just did the swap! be driven it for about 2 weeks! im just sayin i dont want to get board with it i want to keep buildin it! and i think the b16 is a good platform! way sicker the the z6 in my option! just want to budget build it!
You might want to start with DVD Omniman helped make. It takes you step-by-step through a 200whp B16 build. Great place to start if you are new to Hondas.

100 here 100 there will only make you spend more money in the long run, on things you wont need. Do your R&D on what you want, then build.. Slowly. Rushing things will lead to a poorly build motor that may be a ticking time bomb. Unless of course your a professional. Haste makes waste.
true! lately ive been buyin dress up **** that ant go fast parts but its keepin it fun and me busy with it! on a budget! just did my tax return so ill have about 1500 to spend next month and im not quit sure what it want to do yet???
drop a set of type R cams , with some headwork . shud be enough . im not sure how much does a set of used type R cams cost over at your side . if possible , use oversized ek9 pistons , will also be good enough . just my 2 cents ! :D
civic type r cams civic type r springs and retainers, type r intake manifold (aebs even) a ctr crank pulley a decent header and a 2-2.5 inch exhaust (ebay or other, doesnt matter once the exhaust makes it outta the header) and a skunk2 chipped p28 rev to 9 and itl be a reliable blast, if u want a lil more pep a 50 shot will keep it pretty safe and cheap, want reliable and cheap keep it with all honda parts wanta get some more torque get a gsr bottom end and put ur b16 pistons in it and slap ur head on top
What about the CTR Pulley? I have heard of issues putting them on Non ballanced motors. Something about the factory CTR Crank Pulleys arnt ballancers, they are just pulleys. Am i right?
