My EG hatch
Hello guys I am new to the forums, and the reason I joined was to get some help for my civic. I am new to the honda scene. Here is my hatch

Right now it has it's red hood.
I want to build this honda my way, and my future plan is getting a K20 swap.
But for now I want work with the motor it has, it's non vtec, and I was wondering if I can swap out the head to make it vtec. And if so what parts would I need and what will I have to mess around with?

Welcome
Glad you ditched the rusted hood, I never got that fad.
Look in the FAQ at the top of the 92-00 civic forum there should be at least 1 thread in there about a mini me swap. (non-vtec bottom end with vtec head)

Do you guys know a good site that sells honda parts? Like I wanted a mugen gauge cluster, a spoon wing, spoon exhaust, and I would like to buy a brake kit. I'm gonna try to check ebay.
thanks for the welcome. and yup, the rusted hood looked nasty. thanks again for the info.

I found the thread. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/faq-d15-sohc-vtec-mini-me-massive-write-up-56k-goodbye-554053/
I just don't know what kind of D series motor I have. All I know is that it is a D16, I think. It's not the original motor, the original one was knocking so the owner that had it before me decided to swap it. I am assuming it's the same one...
fyi, a k-series swap is quite expensive, and requires a good amount of experience.
have you considered a b-series swap? or just slapping a turbo on your current d-series? you'd be surprised how much fun it is driving a boosted d-series.
theres tons of threads on H-T that tell the pros of cons of all these choices.
i currently have a gsr engine swap in my hatch, and im pretty content with it for now.
happy building dude

Thanks
the k-series is my dream...
And yeah I have thought of getting a gsr, but I'll rather work on my d-series. Putting on a turbo... it's crossed my mind, I found a kit on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...item19b9374b2b.
A friend of mine had a boosted d-series eg. If I decided on slapping on a turbo, I would have to need bigger injectors, upgraded fuel pump, 8:1 compression pistons, an aftermarket clutch and flywheel, and maybe a LSD would be useful? I am still not sure what to do to it. I want to make this my build thread. Any suggestions?

Welcome, nice hatch, I like the Si wheels.
Save up and prepare your brain to act like a sponge. There are quite a few extremely knowledgable guys here and when they say something, listen to them. They speak from experience. Don't be afraid to ask for help, but also the search button is your friend.
Open your mind....LOL
Good luck with the build.

Looks clean looks clean. I have an EG too.
Well, if your going with turbo. EBay isnt the place
to look for them, they dont last. mini me?
why dont you try sellin your swap and gettin a JDM D15B w/ vtec.
it would be less work and a little bit more reliable.
im preety sure you could find one for cheap. for just head and block then pass everything else onto it. But good luck with the build man, hope it works out for you smoothly :]

First off welcome to the club! (A word of advise dont take the bull **** alot of people give to the newbie, instead of helping they just hate so learn to ignore it) Now on to the subject at hand. Ive read everyones comments about your honda and what you should do. Here is my input from my own experience. If you plan of putting expensive parts on your car then you BETTER compliment it with a good alarm/antitheft system!!! otherwise just give me your money i can put it to good use. Second is that you should work on exterior looks and suspension before doing anything besides a tune-up to your motor. If you want he k series then just wait dont put money into ur sohc its not worth it. if you decide to sell the motor and other performance parts you wont get the amount of money nor close to the amount that you've put into it so dont waste your money. Work on the appearence. The first thing people see is the exterior of the car so start with that. Face it what under your hood only matters if your racing it no one pops their hood to show off anyways since everyone is afraid of getting ripped off. after ur done with the exterior then save up and get your swap that way during the construction process people will still say that your car looks dope even if it has a stock motor.

yeah just turbo the way it is. only K swap it if you have 4000 bucks laying around you dont know what to do with. and either paint the exterior smurf blue or paint the bay back red. looks ridiculous right now
First off thanks for all the positive comments! Makes my day believe it or not.
I get that a lot... it's for the nitrous... nah jk
idk man I just bought it like that. That thingy it's just there haha.
Thanks, and I'll take that into consideration. I do want to work on appearance first, you know work my way outside to inside.I like my Si wheels but I'll probably put them on sale once I get enough cash to buy some white drag wheels, with some red lug nuts. But right now I do need an alarm, bad!
