I had a d16z6 cylinder head done awhile ago. It's for a boosted 1.7l. Had him install .5mm oversized intake and exhaust valves in it. The quality of work looks very good. He did an excellent job. I don't have this engine in the car yet, getting ready to build the turbo manifold. Just got other cars to finish before this one. Was really easy guy to deal with and his work looks top notch. Sorry I don't have any other input for you.
I thought he was out of business? There was a whole thread on S2ki.com about him taking money recently and not following through with work. I'd proceed with caution.
The quality of his work (based on what I've seen and read) is absolutely top-notch however.

He does good work, however, I wouldn't send him money until the work was done, or unless you live close enough to pay him a visit in case he starts lagging on your head. I know several guys that got their heads back in a few months. And I know several guys that didn't get anything back at all. The guys that got their heads back were only a fews hours drive from his shop, the guys that got nothing were out of state, so you can see where I'm going with this.

I had my head done probibly a couple years ago. Took about, 4 months maybe. I mean its a hand ported, flowed head with oversize valves. He was probibly not sitting and waiting for my head to show up either. Unless its cnc port, people are going to have to wait a little bit for a job well done. It's the same as assembling an engine. People will complain about how expensive it is, then they'll complain that it takes too long. Maybe the people doing the labor correctly, have so many hours into it to do it correctly. That is why it cost as much as it does and takes as long as it does. I'm not defending Alaniz, I'm just saying people expect the best they can get, with the money and time they don't wanna give. If there are "several people" that didn't get heads back at all, I'd like to hear from them. If it is so bad, this thread should see some responses. Hopefully we can get some first hand input, as mine is a couples years dated, so things could change since I had my experience.
I know fully well how long it takes to hand port a head or fully build a block.
I have custom equipment such as pumps and motors designed, fabricated from scratch and hand built and none have ever taken longer than a few months. When you're in a line of work, whether it's building motors or making shoes, that is your trade, you should produce your product or perform your service in a timely manner, or at least clearly state what the lead time is for the complete product.
There was a thread on here not very long ago about a guy from out of state, he never got his head back and he had been waiting for almost a year. In the mean time he is porting heads for local guys cause he knows those guys have the means to pay him a visit if he did them dirty.

Im assuming that now would be the best time to do it since he has a 745 dollar special on a full comp (check his website). The guy is 100% legit! I know him personally. He is not a crook. Some people on here make it seem like his number 1 goal is to steal your money...not true. I know people on here and other forums have had problems with him but how often do people spread the positive things about a person or business? Never! Its always the bad things you here. Must people that come on forums to bitch and complain about thier happenings with an individual or a business are always going to make themselves lool like the victim. Bottom line is that that you can't always believe everything you here or say unless you yourself have personally experienced the same!
there is cccylinderheads and rlz there are plenty of other people here that do great port work and for very good prices
