Actually the location of the transmission is really comfortable,I love it.04-05>02-03.Lights,5-lug, bigger sway bar I believe, and side air bags on 05's.
The shifting feels more natural to me in its position. You don't have to reach all the way down, its just a few inches away. I think all cars should take note

As many of the responses have pointed out that the 04-05 have better brakes, more air bags, and the side skirts. The earlier model has the same bolt pattern 4X100 that comes from older Honda Civic cars - You can use a favorite set of wheels from your old Civic Si.
Older bolts have more rust, break easier, or are missing. The newer the car is, the more likely it is to be closer to showroom condition. (My '02 may not have a salvage title, but I am trying to resurect it from the depths of Ricer Hell!)

he means to say with a the newer model car, everything is newer and more sound. hasn't really been through wear and tear of the years as much. things are easier to maintain and replace etc.
have to agree, the shifting feels more natural w/ ep3 than the ones you have to reach down. Got used to it real quick and DD shifting feels PLUS everytime!

(I'm just being a little pissy because I had to spend a lot of money on some OEM parts to get it make it look less altered.) Rusty, broken, missing, and corroded parts always make things more difficult.
Good luck with the search.

I personally like the 02'-03' tail lights better than the 04'-05'. The head lights I would say I like equally. Not sure what others are talking about with the 04-05 having more airbags. My 03' has side airbags. This option was not available for the 02' only. You will definitely have more wheel options if you go with the 5 lug 04'-05' as others have said. Boils down to personal preference. If you find a great deal on a 02 or 03 don't pass it up because it doesn't have side skirts. You can order these easily online for a good price. Or go with the HFP side skirts. Here is a link:http://www.handa-accessories.com/civicsi.html
They are running a crazy price now that is hard to pass up for factory painted pieces. Hope it helps. Good luck finding your car.

Well the big differences in the 04-05 and 02-03 are side skirts 5 lugs head lights and tails. Also 04-05's add carpet under the rear wheels wells to reduce noise. silver window switches. Black dash pieces for the ac ***** instead of the 02-03's grey. Little chrome accents on the ac vents. They also do have a different steering rack, however the first 150 04's have the oder 02-03 steering rack's which tend to squeak when cold or the car is lowered. Also the rear sway's 02-03's have a 15mm 04-05's have a 17mm. The 04-05's did also add auto up and down on the driver window 02-03's only power down, thats all i can really think of for now there.
theres some guy in clubrsx selling a 06 white type s for $15,500OBO with some mods done to it and 34,500 miles... but i live in ny and he lives in flordia so thats a long trip.
