How can I test the oem headunit?

it lights up but does not turn on or react to anything else. The vehicle is a completely unmodified 97 civic ex and I am suspecting the radio is dead because the keyless entry doesn't work also.

As long as you have a constant 12v, ignition 12v, and a good ground it should power up normally. I have a known working stock radio from my 97 if your interested. LMK

 

Any volume? Pure static? Any feedback from the speakers or CD deck?

what year? radio may simply be so old it just may need a new one

 

It's a 97 Honda civic EX with stock 97 cd player from honda.

 

My car is also a 97 civic EX with stock 97 cd player. I'm kind of having a similar problem right now too. I'm trading my car in today, but don't want to turn it in with a non-op stereo (my radio will not switch to the stock cd player and I cannot eject the cd... just totally unresponsive.)
