I am fishing for ideas here. My wife has a 1998 LS integra automatic. It is giving a P1607 code, Erratic idle and wanting to overheat. Been in and out the shop since christmas no one seems to be able to find the issue. The ecu has been switch out with 2 others, the tranny ecu has been swapped the IAC has been changed. Had a remote start on it and it has been removed. I am nearly ready to just set it on fire. does any one have any ideas? please help!!!!!!

so here is the list of issues:

P1607 code
Flashing D4
engine shutting down
engine wanting to run HOT
erratic idle

things tried:
swap ecu's (have 3 all doing the same)
swap tranny ecu
changed relays
checked fuses
changed IACV

will clear up and act right for 2-4 days then back to the same

 

ok start by finding out what that code is. and the idle could be a vacuum leak so check all that first then go to sensors on the throttle body. and if thats good then check for air leaks on the intake manifold its self. than as far as it wanting to over heat check the coolant first make sure the radiator is full if it is run the car tell it warm's up and see if the fan is turning on if thats working and its still over heating than change the thermostat and check your timing. do all that then if you still have a problem let me know and let me know how it go's to!

 

oh and put your remote start back on just make sure its done or you'll have starting problems

 

the code is P1607- internal ECU FAULT
coolant is full
and the fan is turning on like it is supposed to

no starting issues with the remote start removed

 

ok so next step is check the head gasket by checking for oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil or do a compression test. you know what why don't you give me a call we can talk about it and that way i can here it run. 4two5-three4four-four7fiveeight.

 

cars is at my father-in-law's shop who is a mechanic by trade and it has everyone there scratching their heads on what is going on with it. I gave up on it a while back. I am really fishing for ideas maybe something they might have overlooked. I looked at the oil before i took it over to them and there is no mixing of oil in coolant or coolant in oil. I don't know if they did a compression check on it or not. when it is running it sounds just like any other stock integra not missing or anything of the such. get an occasional O2 sensor code as well but that has been there for a while
