Default Stripped Seat Bolt... Anyone?

I stripped the seat bolt when I was taking the seat for cleaning

and now the passenger side is secured by only 3 bolts..

steel bolts on aluminum, so I am thinking the thread on the chassis has been stripped..

any method to fix the thread? and what kind of thread is that?

Thanks

You could try retapping it with a tap&die set from the hardware store. Just make sure to get a bolt that matches the die you used.

just wondering..

while retapping the hole, should I choose the same size as the thread? or I have to go one-size larger?

The reason is because I want to stick with OEM seat bolts, is it possible to do this?

Just depends on how bad the carnage is. If the threads are just fudged a little, you can probably use the same size tap to clean up and straighten the threads out. I've done this countless times on many different nuts and bolts over the years.

If the threads are more like non-existent, then you'll probably need to tap it out one size larger.
