Axle comming out of transmission
I have a 2002 civic EX 5 spd MT that I bought about a year ago. After having it a couple months, it started popping out of 5th gear. This was caused by fluid leaking around the axle. After getting the axles and the axle seals replaced, the leaking stopped, but the transmission was damaged and 5th and reverse no longer worked. I put a used transmission in it and 2 months later, it was leaking fluid around the axle again. The axle seams to be getting pushed out of the transmission. Does anyone know what would cause this? I'm also wondering if there could be something wrong with the car that would cause transmission and axle problems since this is the second time in a year to have axle/transmission leaking problems.
Thanks

Is this isolated to one side? Cv shaft could have been bent or unbalanced, try another cv shaft new or used with your next new transaxel output seal and see how long it lasts. Car could have previously been in an collision, so check subframe, spindles, control arms as well.
I remember someone on another forum complaining about the same problem with the axle seals. He's replaced them twice and still can't figure out what's causing them to keep leaking.
IIRC he also installed new axles with the seals and still has problems.

I ran into this problem when i replaced my axle with the one from advance. After installation, it would keep popping out. I looked up the part number online and realized they gave me an automatic axle... even after telling them i needed a manual one. I hope this help.
