jdm b16a boost?? need help!!!
hey i have a sirII jdm b16a and i wanna boost it on stock everything i wanna know how much i can boost safely like 5-10psi of boost is this possible i dont wanna break it i dont have money to be fixing it lol let me know thanks
PSI is irrelevent. As 5psi on a 16g turbo is not the same as 5psi on a GT35R, just using an example as I don't know the size of the turbo you have.
Personally I ran 9 psi on a t3/t4turbo, while running my stock b16 and had no issue. A couple of things you MUST keep in mind though.
1. I had checked my motor's health to ensure it would hold the added pressure. Leakdown, compression test, replaced old worn parts etc.
2. I had the car tuned professionally. **THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP**
If you do not think you have the 600-800 dollars, depending on where you live, to get the car tuned by a professional, I would recommend that you do not boost the car, it will more than likely end in disaster.

ok so i can boost 9lbs on a stok b16 with a t3/t4 turbo which is wat imma get and i know a shop that will tune it for like 300 cause i know them so thats a good thing should i change my computer to a chipped one cause i have a stock jdm b16 one in there now
Just make sure they are reputable company that will tune it properly.
I would recommend swapping to OBD1 as there are more tuning capabilities with CROME, Uberdata, Hondata, etc. OBD0 really only has TurboEdit to work with and a lot of tuners don't use it because of their better obd1 counterparts.
As I said though, make sure your motor can handle the boost before doing anything. Just because your motor is a JDM motor does not mean the rings aren't weak or headgasket doesnt have a minor leak. Make sure your motor is able to handle it cause adding boost may push it over the edge with all the extra pressure in the cylinders.

dont short cut anything, when i was young and dumb, i built my own turbo setup on a stock d16a6 and boosted 5lbs. i didnt take the steps to have it professionally tuned, i had a guy from hmt who lived 2500 miles away sent me a chip based on his old setup. literally 4 motors later, because i listened to noone and never had it professionally tuned, i switched to a b20 all motor.
keys things in my experience
1. dyno tune or someone who can tune without one very well.
2. good turbo, spend the cash, no ebay.
3. fuel injectors and a good wastegate. no ebay. something regulating boost
you definatly do not want it to fail. this is why my 4th motor failed lol.
4. take your time and dont rush it. do it all correctly.
this is some advice not an actual complete guide on what to do. oh and dont get boost greedy.
