Default basically stock ls turbo...

i'm wondering, i was thinking of this setup.

99 b18b1
p61 pistons
shot peened ls rods
cometic 81mm head gasket
acl bearings
upgraded springs/retainers
stock cams
skunk2 intake mani
blox 70mm throttlebody
stock head
oil catch can
arp rod bolts
arp head studs
precision sc61 turbo
log manifold
2.5" cold side intercooler piping
2.25" hot side intercooler piping
3" downpipe
880cc injectors
stage 4 clutch
ls transmission

Would this setup be able to handle 350whp on 91oct? I'm looking to go with a relative stock b18b and make 350whp. I'm just not sure on spending 900 dollars on pistons/rods if i can do it with p61 pistons and shot peened ls rods. It looks like there are stock ls's with 100k out there pushing 300+ hp so i figured a rebuilt/upgraded ls should be able to do it. All comments are welcome as well as suggestions.

anybody? btw, the p61 pistons should bump me to 10.0:1 compression. is that pushing it or is that a safe limit? thanks guys.

you might be ok. 10-1 on cast pistons isnt ideal but you might be able to get away with it. i would also look and see what kind of tq that setup would net you cause that might be where the rods would call it quits.

it's definitely going to be tuned, i'll build a basemap for it to break it in and get it running.

well the stock usdm gsr are 10:1 compression ratio if i'm not mistaken, so that shouldn't be bad...at least i'm hoping not. it's a small bump in compression but if anything i'll stay pr4 pistons. it's just that i hear that the stock LS pistons suck.

Just use the nippon racing pistons and rings from ebay. They are like 175 shipped. It's a cast piston that is stronger then oem with thicker ringlands. People use them all the time and make well over what your goal is. One member on here is making 460 with them currently.

People are running both. Not sure about the shot peening. If you plan on running aftermarket rods you will have to get the pistons machined to except C- clips.

You should be able to hit your goals, but i would feel a lot more comfortable if you were thinking about using E85 rather than 91 octane. That may be something to consider because it will give you a little more wiggle room before any detonation would arise.
