MAIN HARNESS HELP!!
ookay so i got a big problem. ive search and couldnt find anything about what im looking for...either im not looking good enough or no one has a problem with this kinda issuse. so i have a 90 crx hf that i bought as a shell, i lost my job and bought a D15B1 off a buudy out off his 88 civic dx. i bought his full swap. so anyways i dropped the motor in connected the engine harness and came to a problem that the driver side engine to main harness plug didnt fit. passenger went in fine. so i went to the junk yard picked up a main harness plug for mine so that my enigne harness and main harness would connect. well i couldnt figure it out cause i ended up with extra wires. I came to another problem that i needed to make a ecu jumper cause the plugs aare different from a dx civic and a hf crx. i made it and it came out fine. car doesnt run, has bad electrical problems and im kinda sure its cause the main harness and engine harness are different. SOOOOO im wondering can i buy a 88 civic main harness and fix my electrical problems since it would correct the wiring thats suppose to be for that motor? would i run into any problems? would my cluster, dash, lights, all work with a 88 civic main harness? does anyone have any suggestions. I THINK MY BEST BET IS TO GET THE MAIN HARNESS!!!???
no, your problem is that you are trying to put a dpfi motor and harness into a mpfi car. does not work. you definitely should not have changed out the plugs on the chassis harness, change it back. easiest fix would be for you to convert the motor to mpfi by adding the intake manifold, intake, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, throttle cable, distributor, engine harness and ecu from an 88-91 si. might sound like a lot but it is the easiest and probably best option for you.
I know it sounds bad man but going from MPFI to DPFI is probably unheard of. You can probably convert your d15b1 to MPFI for cheap if you shop around and look for deals.
you think i should have a electrican come out and try and fix the problem???? or do what you guys are saying..... to get the whole complete intake manifold, harness, ecu. What year and model would go best for me? Or would it be good to get the whole head setup from another civic or sumthing and get more hp on top of doing the MPFI!! really need ur guy's input...
if you think you are the first person to ask this question, i must tell you that you are incorrect. hundreds, even thousands of people have done what you are asking about and have made detailed posts on what they did and how they did it. try searching around a little if you think my advice on what to do is insufficient.
