Hey guys,

So I am just curious about the stories of your first VTEC experiences.

I am only 22 so my first VTEC experience probably isn't as cool as some of yours driving the first Integra GSRs or EG Si, but mine is still fun for me.

In 2004 I was 16 and owned an 89 Civic hatch. Never owning a VTEC car I never got to experience it until my friend got a 2005 RSX Type S for Christmas after he turned 16.

The first time I ever remember acknowledging the I-VTEC system on his car we were cruising around town one night and his car had finally gotten past it's first 6000 miles. He took off from a stoplight and redlined his Type S. I'll never forget the sound of hearing that thing scream to such a high RPM with the amazing intake sound coming from the engine (slightly sounded like a handful of nails in a tin can, but still cool). I had my head out the window and told him to redline it again. We cruised around for a while that summer evening enjoying the fruits of Honda's wonderful motor.

Now that I have my own EP3 I never get bored of the sound of my car screaming to redline with my relatively quiet exhaust and an AEM cold air intake.

i remember my first time also, not as vividly though. it was around 2000, when my brother got a 2001 itr. he was 17 and i was 10. i remember how he kept bugging my parents to buy him cars he found in the pennysaver, my parents refused and told him they'd buy him a new car when we had the money. one night my brother went on a trip for marching band, and my parents wanted to surprise him so they went out and bought a new 2001 yellow integra type r. i was awoken by my sister who told me that there was a new car in the driveway. i went out with my dad for a ride. i didn't know much about cars back then, but one thing i knew, was that i wanted to drive something like that when i grow up.

i'm a proud owner of an 2002 white ep3 for two years now and i absolutely love it. though i'm still on a hunt for a clean itr though. unfortunately my brother's itr was stolen a few years ago.

 

my buddys restore crx with a k20a2 with a crower cam, and light weight flywheel. and other bolts on. tunnedd on kpro. i have never been slammed into my seat like this by any other n/a motor and this was a shocker coming from a 4 banger, ivtec hit soo hard the wheels spun.

My second eg hatch had a semi built d16z6. It felt cool to hear the crossover but it was still slow as **** lol. But I had plenty of fun with that engine, so much fun I blew it up! haha

 

Good stories guys. I especially like the one with the ITR. My first ITR experience was when I worked at NAPA. A stoner came in with a yellow ITR. He couldn't get the wiper blades off and told me if I changed them (a free service) then he would let me drive his car. I took an early lunch and cruised around town for a bit. It was so sick! Not even super fast and didn't have any low end torque but when VTEC hit, it was a totally different car! Same feeling of driving an S2000... I love that feeling.

it was 3 years ago
my friend owned a 05 type s and we were driving in the freeway with mild traffic and this tsx started to tailgate him so he down shift to 5th gear started to get aggressive i was pushed back at my seat and hes freaking crazy, snake driving in a busy freeway it was hella fast
and thats the first time i fell inlove with k-series engine
and now im a proud owner of ep3, i tried to race him but k20a2 is just too much for a3's

 

I rolled a 98 Nissan Maxima years ago... my mom was like, well time to buy your first car on your own. So I talked to some buddies and they said you totally need a Honda. But make sure it has vtec. And I'm going wtf is vtec but ok....

so I searched and found the love of my life. A 96 Honda Accord EX F22 VTEC in that sweet teal color. Leather interior the works. So my buddy then starts telling me I should buy this and that. I literally was no car guy nor did I care but I did it. Well I bought a fake front mount cold air intake and I was in LOVE! VTEC finally sounded and it was the voice of god saying "hear you go" baaaaaaWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAA

And I've been an addict since. I ended up boosting it. Blowing it up. I've had 4 Honda Accords, a GSR, and now my RSX.
