Default Look at what happened to my tranny!

So during the last few days i've been hearing a whining noise from my tranny which goes away when I depress the clutch in nuetral. I figured I'd wait until this weekend to check the tranny oil level but it never reached Thursday (yesterday).

Last night on my way home the tranny started acting weird like it was losing hydralic fluid since it was getting tough changing gears then all of a sudden I heard griding noises and my next call was to get towed!

This is what I found when I opened her up - so what happened? Hopefully I can just replace the bad gearset...
