Default Restarting a sitting car

Sorry if this has been posted before. I wasn't sure how to search this topic. if you can point me in the right direction, that would be nice.

anyways, my car has been sitting in the driveway unregistered for about 7 months now. i was starting it up every few weeks but the battery died completely (jumping it didnt work). i would estimate it hasnt ran at all in maybe 2 to 3 months. im going to go buy a new battery within a few days and i was wondering if i should do anything special before or while starting it again to prevent damage. thanks.

2 - 3 months really isn't that long. Just make sure fluid levels are okay. You might want to add some fresh gasoline to the tank though, since it's been sitting in the driveway for around 7 months.

In my opinion, to be on the safe side, I would pump the gas out of the tank. If that is the same fuel that has sat there for several months, and put some fresh gas in.

But like he said, you might be fine.

I'd change the oil too....just to be safe.

Sitting and getting started multiple times for short periods will put loads of moisture in your oil.

Disconnect the harness to the distributor to allow the motor to crank w/o firing so oil is circulated to the bearings. Let it idle until the tailpipe is hot to the touch so water doesn't rust out your exhaust system.
