Default Can a virgin P28 run a B20 Vtec?

I'm curious how well the car is running as I traded for it recently and the car had a CEL. I repaired the botched wiring and and am getting no CEL's occationally it does throw the IAT but I've got a new one ordered and should be here this week. Also I'm getting a socketed p28 this week sometime and I'm wondering what would be a good base tune to run it on? I'm not gonna pound it hard as it'll be my DD, but would like to feel the difference with the swap. Any Input would be appreciated. Should it run noticably stronger with a decent map?

hmmmmm, well honda likes to use a MAP and TPS to determine(guess) airflow. SOOOOOOO i wouldnt think that an ecu designed for 1.6L would do too well with a 2.0L engine.......BUT ive been wrong before, ill be wrong again. if it used a MAF, then it would be different cuz a MAF actually measures the amount of air coming into the engine.

but my first reaction is that no, a p28 would not do well with a b20 vtec.

I respectfully disagree. I have an LSVTEC in my car and it ran decent with a stock p28. It ran a little rich but nothing a base map cant fix. I know the engines are different but its a different displacement than the 1.6L. I do suggest getting it tuned if you want to feel a difference.

sorry but how the hell did ur, im assuming, 1.8l lsvtec run RICH on a stock p28 meant for a 1.6l sohc?

i never ran a stock p28, however i ran a stock gsr ecu (1.8l) on my b20vtec (2.0l) and it DID run lean(wideband readings) and not very well, and im sure would have cracked the thin b20 sleeves much earlier, but i got it tuned and it made a world of difference feeding the 84mm bore what it actually needed.....

beats me. I thought the same thing too but according to the guy who tuned my car, it ran rich.

I ran an OBD2a B18B1 with an unchipped P06 before. It ran ok, until I threw a mystery code and ran into limp mode. I thought I was running a chipped ECU (which I was), but they forgot to jump it so it would actually RUN the chip.

id get the engine tuned, instead of using someone elses base map... i mean if u dont have expensive pistons and good build dont care how long it last just use someonelses and see what happens, some get lucky and some dont,
