some itr questions
I just came back from picking up an ITR for a friend (he isn't proficient at driving a manual yet) and had some questions. It's a 2000 ITR, has under 14000 miles and has the Apexi N1 exhaust. Here are some things that I noticed. One, the cabin doens't seem to be very well insulated and I can hear a lot of the road/wind noise. Two, the idle rpm is 1000 some times and 700-800 other times. If some of you guys could comment on my observations, I would really appreciate it.
I drive a 1997 Prelude and I must say it has a nice pull, handles well, and I love the feel of the stick shift. Is there anything in particular I should be concerned with on the ITR's or any mods that work very well with it? Thanks.

Everything you described is normal. It idles higher when the engine is cold or it has been running at high rpm for a while (for example, if you are cruising at 4500 rpm on the highway for a while, take it out of gear, it will idle at 1500 rpm until you come to complete stop, once you've reached a complete stop, it will idle at 800 rpm again).
The ITR has no sound insulation besides the thin carpet. You will hear all sorts of weird noises, get used to it but if anything sounds out of place get it checked asap. I really think your friend should be posting on H-T as well

Tell your freind to enjoy, and I'll second the noisy car thing.
As for modifying the ITR, leave it alone untill he drives better and make sure he does not get OWNED by liftthrottle!

Ah great, thanks guys. I guess he'll just have to stick to stock (besides the exhaust, carbon fiber dash, side skirts) for a while. I told him to wait until the warranty runs out, then do whatever. His wife wants power power power. I'd say suspension first, but it's their car. They just ask me what parts to get. Hmm perhaps I should take a middle man's cut lol. Anyway thanks.
sounds like a good find with low miles...first thing i loved about the R when leaving the dealership the first time WAS the cabin noise...but only because i knew why
and what kind of car it was...enjoy, but please tell your buddy to invest in some layered security...
