Default For all the EF'rs whom have crappy lighting.

I was browsing on the interweb and found this for our Civic's/CRX's. A 9005 bulb headlight conversion. I did this today on my hatch tonight and all I can say is, I have 1,00,000 times better lighting. It's outstanding. Here's the link to show you the how to with pictures.

I will warn you now, MAKE SURE you cut down the tab that needs to be cut the right way. Meaning place it up to the headlight and see which side of the tab needs to be trimmed. I went gung-hoe and went trimmin away and didn't do the right side.

No. It's just like running fog lights with the stock 55w bulb and putting 100w bulbs in there. You'll be just fine.

Any PnP kit is absolute garbage. Actually, I'd only buy one PnP kit. And that's from retro-solutions. Except I just don't have $150 to pull out my ***.

I'm surprised more people don't buy the Edm civc/crx single bulb headlights, they use H4 bulbs, and don't cost much. The last set i ordered in only cost about $100

You can buy either the usdm or the SiR style, i bought sets of both

I've posted these before, but here are the SiR style set i am using for my crx with front end conversion

someone go get this guy some pads it seems to b his time of the month... if done right with a kit from retro solutions or retro fiting ur head lights for hids u will not have a problem with blinding opposing vehicles.. both options r better than what came from the factory so do what ya want just dont bash somone cause they do somethin diffrent than u... good lookin op...

I do HIDs where i work with the 35 watt kits. If aimed right, you won't blind anyone. I still get blinded once in a while by other people, but I've also came to accept the fact that my car is low to the ground, and lower after the drop, and my eyes line up with headlights on other cars more often. If you get blinded, its usually not by a civic, its by the a-hole with a big truck and a poorly aimed HID kit.

I've been using the 50 Watt HID kit with the 3K and 4300 Color temp bulbs, not blinding anyone, and a HUGE difference. I'm also running aftermarket housings with a true projector with horizon breaking line.

Key point, do it right, and you're fine. Also, eBay a HID kit for $50ish, its all the same for the most part.

I'm sorry, but I will definitally disagree with you on this. Retro-Solutions is, IF NOT THE BEST, PnP kit out there. Their ballasts are TRUE 55w and bulbs are definitally the best out there. I haven't seen any other kit, other than Retro-Solutions, out there that doesn't have glare or a horrible cut off. They also have a no bull, no gimmiks warrenty

But anyways, I threw in some Sylvania Ultra lights in 9005 that I got for free since my buddy works at autozone and someone tried to jack them and I noticed and even BIGGER differnce in lighting. I can see just as good as a brand new car with halogens.

EDM headlights and H4 bulbs aren't any better. Its still a completely stock setup. H4 bulbs are used in EG's, you don't hear EG owners saying how great their lighting is.....

I went from 9005 mod to EDM with $30 osram nightbreaker bulbs and very disappointed. Its not horrible, but its the $30 bulbs that are doing the same thing as my 9005 mod did.

EDM 1 bulb headlights look better, that's about it.

Get HID's if you want, nothing else can compare to the output. There's a thread or two about how to properly retrofit projectors to minimize the scatter.

But best bang for buck lighting mod is 9005 bulbs for sure.

I did a side by side comparison with the Sylvania Ultra bulbs to some regular 9005 phillips bulbs and it's night and day difference. I drove around a bit to see how different the lighting was and on the driver side with the Sylvania's you can CLEARLY see everything in front of you and on the shoulder of the road but with the Phillips bulbs on the pass. side it was pretty bad. Not that great of lighting on the side nor infront of you.

For everyone that has done this mod, I'd reallllly recommend getting the 9005 Sylvania Ultra's and you'll see damn near everything.

Silver Star Ultra's are more than twice the price of the regular Sylvania bulb, and they only last 1/4 the life.

I bought my first and last set of Silver Stars a couple years ago. They lasted about 6 months.
