yeah. it was suposedly(sp) the D16A1 head. but whenever anyone asks if it would work, no one has the honest answer. so i found a d16a1 engine in my junkyard. i am buying it monday. i am going to attempt to swap the head on my d16a6. i will be sure and tell everyone on here if it works or not. im hoping it does

i have read the post also. its not a straight swap, it requires machine work.
Y8 if ya ask me.

funny thing tho, I compared the head gasket from my motor (the D15A1, or EW in the 1G CRX Si) to a D16A1 head, and it will work. Everything lines up. Onlything is, timing belt/piston issues are unknown. Don't get too excited, my engine is completely different from other D-series blocks.

What I do know is a 88 Integra head won't work on an 88-91 D16a6 block. It will bolt up but everything valve train wise and coolant/oil passages is slightly misaligned. It would probably run but would go through a ton of headgaskets. I'm sure w/ some machinework it could be done but for the money you could just buy a ZC w/ more power. As far as a 1g/3g Si motor don't know but doubt it would work.

darnit. i really wanted to have it go on. but i can see there being some valvetrain issues. maybe ill just stick with the d16a6 and use that.

I am telling you, I think it will work. The head gaskets are extremely close. Just need to figure out what t-belt it would need. I may try it.

It has been done before. There is some machine work that is required in order for it to work. Unfortunately the cost/benefit ratio is no good. You're way better off getting either a Y8 head, or an entire ZC motor - these will be less of a hassle, might end up costing less, and will produce more performance.

It's a good idea tho.....

DOHC head on 88-newer D-series = prolly really hard to do and prolly not worth the work. Mini-me is better.

DOHC head on an EW (1g rex/3g civic) = likely possible without too much work, value unknown.
