# of teeth on final drives
I bought a tranny and i want to figure out what FD is in it. I already have everything apart because I'm switching to carbon coated synchros. I pulled out the LSD and was surprised when i say it is a quaife lsd. But i want to know what final drive is on it. I counted the teeth on the big gear bolted to the lsd and there are 67 teeth. Does that mean that its a 4.7 FD? please help, thanks in advance everyone.
Or... 67/14 = 4.7857. Count the teeth on the countershaft for the FD and determine if there are 14 teeth. I think you have the 4.785.
67/15 = 4.4667
67/16 = 4.1875
67/15 = 4.4667
67/16 = 4.1875
Now you just have to count the teeth on the countershaft. Here in this pic it is the shaft on the left(the shaft that is touching the diff)

Now you can see the stacks together labeled so you know exactly what you are looking at. Should be self explanatory at this point.

Okay i counted the teeth on the counter shaft FD and there are 14 teeth. So i definitely have the 4.7 final drive. Which is awesome because i bought this tranny pretty much knowing that the only thing it had was an oem lsd. When me and my buddy opened it up to inspect all the synchros and gears we pulled the diff and saw it has a quaife lsd. Super pumped about that. Now i know for a fact that it has the 4.7 FD which is also awesome. I'm going to feel a HUGE difference when i swap in this tranny with the 8lb act flywheel and stage 2 clutch i bought, i am also going to install the last hasport mount i have while i have the tranny off so its that much easier to get to. Hopefully the car feels a good bit quicker.
I would say i got a pretty good deal for 700 bucks for that tranny and the act flywheel, what do you all think?

I stated in my first post that I'm replacing them with the carbon coated synchros. They did not look terrible but definitly worn so i figured i might as well throw some good ones in there
