Default B18C5 into '94 GSR

What do I need to do? What is different that would make installation difficult? Is it worth it over a C1? I'm putting a new crank into my C1 and selling it (make offer) and am getting either another C1 or a C5. Would I most likely have to get a new intake mani.? Or would a new engine come with one? Sorry for all the newbie questions, but the C5 is not my area of expertise. Thanks in advance.

It's not worth it. Save your money and get a Type R

just go FI. it will be cheaper.

or build your current engine. cams/compression and you're on your way (obvious there's more to it than this but it's not as much as one would think).

well see, the thing is, I can get a C5 for under 2K (don't ask how... it's not stolen. I just have connections), and get it installed for free. I just needed to know what else, if anything, I'd need to get.

Might as well do other stuff while the motor is out such as motor mounts and internals.

Even if you have connections, ITR motor for 2k is too cheap...

well you need the motor (of course), tranny, ecu. you can reuse your shift linkage, axles, motor mounts and such. you dont need a new intake manifold if the R youre getting comes w/ one. for the ecu, either get a reprogrammed one for obd1 or use the R's ecu and get a jumper for it to connect your existing harness. i did this like 2 years ago and it was easy as cake...will be doing it again for a friend in 2 mo. is it worth it? powerwise, yes...gotta love LSD

All plug and play, you can even use the GSR computer but could only rev to 8000rpm. As far as going FI or C5. These are 2 way different options. Kind of like comparing apples and oranges.

Where in Texas are you located. Hookup or not, 2k is TOO cheap for a complete Type-R dropout.

Yep. Thats like someone handing you $3000. Hey, your a nice guy, here ya go. Noone will sell it for 2k when they can sell it in a matter of minutes for 5k.

Well I know someone on the board who blew his JDM GSR engine and picked up a complete ITR swap for less than 6000 CAD, that is about $3000 US with our rate of exchange shipping etc. BTW, the motor was legit and not stolen.

Shops can purchase wrecked ITRs here at insurance auctions, if you have a hookup, you can get the motor at cost price

You guys are always quick to say theft. I am not legitimizing this ITR swap for $2000 in this post, I am just saying that you guys should chill

my best friend's stepdad is in the auto business, and knows a few insurance guys. They're doing a 5 state search, and so far have come up with a few C1s for about 1500, and a C5 for about 2K. Could I use my GSR tranny? Where would I go about getting the other stuff that I need (ECU, etc.,), and about how much will that stuff be? Thanks. And isn't the main reason swaps are so expensive is because of the labor?

Why would you want to?

ITR tranny has better gearing and LSD.

'cuz I'm on a budget. The only reason I could even get a C5 is because I should be able to sell my motor and the difference shouldn't be much. Could I do almost a direct trade ITR tranny for GSR? And why wouldn't I want to use the GSR tranny (just asking)? Nevermind.. I just reread your post and answered that last one myself.

Yes, all B-series trannies are interchangable. You can mount any B-series
tranny to your ITR longblock. But the best tranny, of course, is the ITR LSD tranny.

Don't mean to step on your toes, but it would be closer to ~$4000 US. But your point is well taken.
