Default auto to manual wiring question

i just did an auto to manual swap on a buddies ef sedan ex....anyways he now would like to use a vafc 2 and go to obd 1 ...so i put the harness i have from wire on with a vafc2 on it and now the car doesnt start it will crank almost start and sputter and die...so are there any pinouts and or wires i need to add or remove or can i just not use the rywire jumper. i still has the automatic wire harness by the way and runs but only on an obd0 ecu

i dont think a vafc2 is able to covert an obd engine harness to obd 1. use the rywire harness

i would try to make it run first before worrying about adding the vafc. which imo is not needed anyway, but whatever floats his boat. i assume you're using an obd1 distributor?

i dont understand your question. you plug in the jumper, and that takes care of converting to obd1 (aside from running a few wires from the subharness into the engine bay). then tap into the wires you need for the vafc. whether that be at the jumper itself, or before it in the stock cabin harness, it doesn't matter.

the car is already mpfi obd0 but it has an automatic wire harness. it runs with an obd0 ecu. when i connect the rywire jumper it doesnt. it just cranks, starts, sputters and dies i think the jumper doesnt work on an auto harness and thats what im trying to figure out.

wait wait....so you just swapped the transmission? what engine is in the car that requires you to convert to obd1? cause it sounds to me like you still have an obd0 motor

what's wrong with that? if he has the resistor box then he can use obd0 injectors. if he removes the box then he needs to use obd1 injectors. what the ecu is doesn't matter.

what i am wondering though is op still hasn't clarified whether his dizzy and ecu are both obd1. those DO have to match.
