Default F20C-swapped EG4 full specs/build info here

I've found the full specs on the F20C-swapped EG Civic on a Japanese web site. Additionally, there is a basic build writeup here. Reading through the spec page, it's clear that this is basically cobbled together from S2000 and Nissan Silvia and Skyline parts. Here are the specs for the EG4 drift car:

Engine
  • S2000 F20C
  • S15 spec R 480cc injectors
  • Tabata S13 radiator support
  • Primera (?) electric fan (I'm assuming motor fan, looks like he's not sure if it's a Primera fan or not)
  • S2000 fuel tank
  • S2000 fuel pump
Powertrain/braking system
  • F20C 6-speed transmission
  • S2000+R32 driveshaft (cobbled together)
  • Nismo LSD (4.3)
  • HCR32 axles
  • S13 4-lug wheel hubs in the (front/back)
  • PS13 brakes
Chassis
  • PS13 front strut suspension
  • PS13 rear multi-link suspension
  • Tein (S13) adjustable struts in the front
  • Tein (BNR32 front) adjustable struts for the rear
  • S13 steering rack
  • Pillow ball tension rods (unknown manufacturer)
  • S13 steering column assembly
Interior/Exterior
  • S2000 interior (a little vague here)
  • Bucket seats (unknown manufacturer)
  • S2000 speedometer cluster
Note:
This part is a little vague...it says "Interior/Exterior" in the heading, but no mention is made of any exterior mods. It looks pretty much like a straight EG from the outside, so maybe nothing unusual was done to the exterior of the car. Additionally, the first list item "S2000 interior" is very vague...all I can tell for sure from this is that the speedo cluster is from an S2000 and they have a set of bucket seats from somewhere, but they don't know the manufacturer. If any other interior items from the S2000 were used, they're not listed here.

Wheels/Tires
  • Longchamps XR4 (7J-15) in the front
  • SSR Mesh (7J-15) in the back
  • Achilles ATR Sports 195/55/15 tires all around

I'll read through the build page as well and let you know if there is anything that can be gleaned from his writeup. Enjoy!

OK, here's the build info I was able to glean from the site. This goes without saying, but...it's really involved. Truly a labor of love. I've written annotations in English that correspond to the pics on the build. Read on:

1st & 2nd pics

He acquired a wrecked S2000 for a donor. He also picked up an EG4 shell, which he calls "wani", meaning "alligator". I guess that's his pet name for the car. He mentions that when he picked up the shell, it looked like nothing more than so much trash to him.

3rd & 4th pics

He started disassembling the EG4 to a point that it was in an unrecognizable state (well...I think most of us could figure out what it is, even disassembled). He also completely gutted the interior

5th pic

He picked up a steel frame for the engine compartment and started cutting it to size...

6th pic

Pictures S13 front members, which were used to fab a new engine mount.

7th pic
This is what it looks like when you put them together. I painted the fabbed parts pink. Putting this together was a real pain in the @ss.

8th pic
Here's the frame I fabricated (mated to the engine). This is what I'm putting in the engine compartment.

9th pic

Now to the transmission install. Of course, I had to completely cut out the floor.

10th pic

The frame (I made) for the engine compartment...is it going to be strong enough, I wonder...?

11th pic

The S2000 floor tunnel - cutting this huge beast out was a real pain in the @ss.

12th pic

Here's what it looks like set over the transmission. It's huge!

13th pic

The rear section of the floor tunnel matched up perfectly. The section of the Civic floor I cut was just right.

14th pic

Now to the rear part of the chassis. This is the rear subframe from an S13. He made it fit whether it wanted to or not.

15th pic
Getting the subframe in was difficult. Measuring it.

16th pic

This is what it looks like from below (before the subframe install). Absolutely nothing there!

17th pic

S13 subframe mated to chassis! Now it's time to reinforce it.

18th pic

The upper arm fit is good...now firmly reinforced. What a pain...

19th pic

The rear subframe swap is perfect!

20th pic

From the inside, the subframe is completely visible. I'll eventually cover this with sheetmetal.

21st pic

The biggest hurdle: the exhaust manifold is in the way of the steering column. Oh well, not much can be done about that, so more fabrication...

22nd pic

It took the whole day, but it's perfect. Making room for it steering column was a royal pain. Something about a tossed out turbo used by Wani, but not sure what he's referring to.

23rd pic
The S2000 has electric power steering, so there's no PS pump. I've decided to use the S13 steering rack, so I'll use the S13 PS pump. However, the pulley width is completely different so I had to find one that will match.

24th pic
I had to make the PS pump bracket too. I eyeballed it and it matched up perfectly...I wonder if it's gonna break?

25th pic
Of course, I had to have the propeller shaft fabricated. I had a local shop, KRF do this for me. If this bends, yow!!

26th pic
I was able to use the stock pedals as is, so I was lucky! I swapped in an S13 steering column.

27th pic
The wiring harness is from the S2000. The S2000 speedo cluster is great! The headlamp switch and wiper switch are also from the S2000.

28th pic
I used S13 struts on the front chassis. They're plentiful and easy to fix/replace if they break.

29th pic
I was able to swap the tensioner bracket.

30th pic
I tossed the A/C and worked my butt off swapping the heater core for the S2000 heater core.

31st pic
The engine compartment is full, but now there's no space for the battery. Guess I'll put the fuse box here (where the battery went).

32nd pic
The interior still looks like a Civic, don't you think? Soon it'll be running. Man, what a pain (this project was)

33rd pic
Of course, I had to fabricate the muffler too!

34th pic
Here's the fuel tank! There are those that are selfish enough to want rear seats! Rear seats are coming out! Out!

35th pic
Finally, the engine is running! Yaaaay!

35th
Time to break it in! There were no particular problems...it's running flawlessly!

I'm want to have someone with a good aesthetic sense put the finishing touches on the body. If anyone breaks this car, it'll be the death penalty for them!

Umm, it opens fine for me both at home and at work. Not sure what kind of protection you're running in your browser. :/

Here's the full link to the specs: http://bcr32.com/f20c-civic.html

Here's the full link to the writeup: http://bcr32.com/f20c-civic-seisaku.html

I know there's one in the US...is there are writeup?

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=39447479

and another (with video and still FWD civic with F20)
https://honda-tech.com/forums/drag-racing-36/inlinepro-f20-swap-into-eg-chassis-update-video-p-2250294/

Im sure the list will keep grown, and its a cool swap, but im not sure about the acual drivabilty with that kinda of work, its more a show thinhg is you ask me, or pure drag. I just don't plan on seeing any on the road, or at the race trak any time soon.

Thanks Rick,
There were so many people asking for a writeup, I figured there had to be something out there in Japanese. Took me 2 minutes to find it. An hour to read through it and translate it though.

That is so sweet! such a perfect setup! That would be so much fun to do, all that fabrication would be a blast! Can't wait to do something crazy like that in the future! Just pure awesomeness!

This is how the Civic should have been produced in the first place.

Yeah, that's a bummer. Nothing I can do about it...the guy took the build page down.
