eg hatch: from rags to riches in 11 days
so heres the deal, i don't have plans for this year's spring break and currently 100 miles from home at university. over the winter i purchased a stock virgin clean title 92 eg hatch with the head missing and abit of surface rust for cheap. i currently have a perfectly running h22 eg hatch with goodies, but its been wrecked before and the body isn't soo clean.
current hatch
there is an interesting build thread on the current hatch, check it out

new hatch
[a friend is getting pics for me right now, soo coming soon]
the plan is to switch all the goodies from the current running car to the new clean titled one with paint of a different shade of black, in two weeks during my spring break which is only 11 days. if this doesn't work then i am out a car til its done and can't make it back to university in time.
goodies getting switched over check list:
[x]h22a4
[x]jdm LSD tranny w/ ACT 6 puck
[x]hasport mounts
[x]cut out the pass mount
[x]clean and paint engine and engine bay
[ ]install built head
[ ]side markers
[ ]yellow fogs
[ ]shifter plate
[x]shift linkage
[/]ground control/koni coilovers
[ ]big front brakes
[ ]rear integra disks brakes
[ ]del sol seats
[ ]arm rest
[x]wire tuck
[ ]shaved engine bay
[x]fix the surface rust
[x] prep the car for paint
[ ]paint
[ ]custom exhaust
[ ]insurance and tagging
[ ]hood [ i like the sigs]
there will be photos of the daily progress when the project starts so stay tuned in two weeks.
soo there you have it, i know it going to be close to get all of this done on time, but i like the challenge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
after three days worth of work, the new hatch is almost completely prepped for paint, rust on the quarters is fixed, and the single cam is almost completely out. we are dropping it, subframe and all because it will be easier with the suspension being swapped.[ almost out cuz it was 9 and i was thirsty
]
sorry, i got too excited and didn't snap any photos before the body work, but here is what we got soo far.
don't have any updated shots of the h22 in the current car, so here you go, it was taken for location reference.
today we are planning to finish dropping the motor, get the mount cut out, shift linkage hole cut. that's the plan for today but depending on time left we should do some more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so heres an update:
yesterday got the single cam out, any one want a d15b8 block? lol
got the h22 prepped to come out. axels, unbolt the mounts and put a chain on it and it ready to come out.

the two hatches sit on stands, while my temporary daily chills next to em.

i got a massive headache mid day and it hurt too much to keep working so we called it a day.
planning on put the h22 in today. should be running by night if everything goes right.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
****yesterday's post****
pulled the h22 out of the blue car subframe and all, cut the hole for the shifter cables, cleaned the engine bay up and welding in the passenger side mount we also are holding the mount in with 2 very large half inch bolts and nuts. we moved it back a half an inch because the motor was sitting in there a bit off. probably the reason why I was busting a lot of axles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
today we put the H22 in the car and had it almost ready in about 4 hours. i had to run a lot of goofy errends today so i didn't have a chance to see if it would start.
the vtec wiring was running directly from the soleniod through the firewall staight to the ecu on the prevous car, but on this one we did some re-pinning on the engine harness and made every thing look stock. [the sub-harness was already wired for vtec]
all thats left is
-cut the hole for the shifter plate
-put the alternator back on
-exhaust installation
-bleed the fluids
should be running by lunch time of st. patty's day

Cool! I like crunch-time builds. I'm betting you get this done, and I'm rooting for you
That's a horrible/sad story about the H22's original home, but I'm glad your making better use of it. Now, don't drink and drive fast!!

as of 3:43 p.m. today the H22 came alive in its new home.
somewhere along the way of pulling the motor and putting it in the new hatch the starter went bad so had to get a new one. other than that it starts up with out a hitch.
had a bunch a friends come up and help prep the car for paint. it was already ready by friday but since we have been touching it with dirty hands needed to wet sand it a bit. had it prepped in about 90 minutes with up to 6 guys at a time, lol.
gets paint in the morning, if i haven't said it yet, its going back to its stock color of charcoal gray.

drying

wet sand help on the left with a few of there cars out front

i have a just swapped a b20 bLock, b16 vtec head with n obd2 computer...with a b20 bLock b20 head non vtec...my idLe wiLL not go passed 2000rpm..i dont know if its either the computer, or a bad knock sensor on the back of the bLock..???any heLp pLz
yes it was done by dead line, well kinda
the axle keeps popping out still and the bearing packing came undone in my dizzy so i can only drive up to hour before the dizzy over heats, but the "limp home mood" turned off randomly when it warmed up outside.

i have still yet to wet sand the car, mainly because no one has a water hose on a college campus. lol
so after i wetsand and buff. a photoshoot will definitely happen and will be posted.
