Default build thread? why not

so i picked up a rusted old hatch a week or so ago as a summer project (getting started a little early). its an 88 dx, so i already have benefit of the pillar mounted seat belts which was nice. it was litterally sitting an inch off the ground with cut springs when i got it. didnt get any pics though before i put it on some other not-so-cut springs. haha. i called up a buddy who owed me some parts for selling me a bad head a while back and he had some cut ef springs on nearly new struts so i picked those up from him. but i forgot about the 88 rear control arms being different! so i was out there thinking i would have to put the springs on these blown *** rear shocks, but then i was going the all the stuff that was in the back of the hatch and BAM! there sat some 89-91 style rear control arms! so that was really nice and very coincidental. so i got the new suspention on so its not tucking tires anymore. and then i called in another favor from another friend. haha. i sold my 88 crx a while back to a friend and cut him a REALLY good deal on it, and he told me he was now seeling it and i wanted my old wheels back, so i traded the steelies with mismatched tires that were completely bald (thats what came on the car when i bought it) for some bbs e30 wheels with decent tires on em! i love these wheels, way better than bottlecaps anyways. so its deffienately comming along. what pretty much sold me on the car was that the guy drove it 100 miles to my house, so i new it was running decent. it has 88 si seats, si trans (not sure if its 88 or 89-91 though), and optional dual din center consol. only downside is the dual din is in blue, but its still cool to have it.

now i am confused. are the 90-91 crx si seats different from the 90-91 civic si seats? cause i have had like 8 sets of 90-91 crx si seats and they looked different than these... they are more pronounced red pinstripes and they werent so gray in the middle. either way these seats have the right pans and rails so it doesnt really matter to me. but insight would be nice cause im a littel confused now. guess imma go do some googling to figure it out

after looking at pictures online it seems the 90-91 crx si seats are different from the 90-91 civic si seats. i just find that weird, seems honda would make the seats the same for the sake of mass production. well i guess i learn something new every day! i do like the 90-91 crx si seats more than these, now i am wishing i didnt sell all the sets i have had in my shed over the last 2 years.

finished fixing my crx si door panels that will be going into the car for now. the ones i had looked like someone took a razor blade to the driver side bottom portion, since the driver side one that was on the car was pealing on the top portion and had a good bottom portion, i just did a little flippity floppity and now i have one good crx si panel.

also pealed the little center carpeted portion off of the top part of the original civic door panel, think i am gonna take it to a silk screaning shop and see if i can get the civic logo screaned onto it, so it will look just like the crx si panels but will cay "civic" sintead of "crx".

There you are. Nice! You actually have some carpet in there as well! With those seats it is... complicated. You may wanna dive under to see how they are bolted on - if there was no pan swap done - you may wobble on three bolts or you have a nice hole drilled through the floor. Forget about crx seats in a hatch. Too much hassle in my opinion. I tried that idea with 1989 crx si's into my hatch and no way in hell, not even a pan swap... It would be a custom weld job. Anyway, good luck with your project.

BTW, it is kinda funny but we are resurrecting our cars in a similar manner. My rear shelf just split from sitting (?!) and I think I am gonna find some hinges for it and fix it that way. How is yours holding up?

its still holding together pretty well acctually, really well for the price i paid for it. haha. its maybe like 25% ripped. everything will be getting a good cleaning over spring break and the real seats will be recovered in the 89 si covers that i got from radex7 will also be adding headrests to the rear seats.

how did you separate the upper part of the panel from the lower?? I need to do the same thing but from looking at it it looks like I would just break it.

plans are really just to go with the flow, haha. see what pops up for cheap and go with it. at this time it will be a mini me by the summer. and i have all the stuff to make ITBs so i might try my hand at that. i have cbr itbs and an old blox mani so i might as well. door panels are gonna take a while. i gotta hunt down a good set of black and gray 88-89 dx door panels. im gonna get the civic logo silkscreaned onto those center patches pretty soon but finding a good set of door panels to put them on is gonna be the hard part.

the things holding the top part to the bottom part are like plastic rivits, i took a torch and heated them up and just wedged a flat head between the top part and bottom parts and the tops of the plastic rivits just kinda pop off. and then to get it back together i acctually used a hot glue gun, sound dumb i know but i figured it would work the best since it was so cold out, and hot glue dries fast so i didnt have to sit there and hold everything together till it dried. came out really good though. just gotta do everything very carfully so you dont eff it all up

went on a parts run today, all day, met up with 5 different ppl over 6 hours. drove two hours for "an si intake mani, pm6, and si dizzy" and showed up and the dude said the si dizzy "fell out of his car cause his wife didnt shut the hatch all the way". very annoying. cause i coulda found an si intake mani and pm6 here in town without waisting 4 hours round trip! and that was the biggest thing i wanted to do over spring break was the multi point swap and now i cant do that. gahhhhh. and then i went to get a new front bumper and bumper filler and he only had the front bumper, and really i only needed the filler i was just getting the bumper cause he said he "didnt want to sell them seperately!", but he thought that when i said "bumper filler" i was talking about the actual metal rebar bumper that goes inside the plastic bumper cover. so now i am short a front bumper filler and an si dizzy and those were the two parts i acctually drove to nashville for, everything else i was just kinda picking up since i was there already. but owell i did get a z6 head, front bumper, after market fogs that look like the jdm ones, ecu plugs with pigtails (for jumper harness ill be making), a6 intake mani, pm6 ecu, cheap 250w amp to run my door speekers, clear bumper lenses, and a DC 2 peice header. plans for tomorrow: get rear lip cut and fitted to the bumper along with rear mudguards, get front lip fitted to new bumper and get the foglight mounted and looking good, and clean teh interior, instal the rear speeker pods and shelf, and instal the a tach, and maybe instal the skunk two dual bend w/ weighted ****.
