92 accord so low to ground
Hello,
I have a 92 accord sedan, been in family since new. It has 91000 miles on it. I am looking for any help / ideas in raising the height of the car. she sits so low to the ground, no modifications have ever been done. speed bumps are an issue and driveways also... Thanks

i dont see how you can have problems with a so called stock height accord, but if you are seriously having problems with it i have a couple suggestions
1. check that you really have stock springs
2. if springs are stock make sure they arnt cut
3. (If you really are at stock height) dont drive like an a$$hole and hit dips/bumps going 60 mph and slow down when going over stuff
4. get a truck???

your problem most likely resides in the springs.
over time, the stock springs just wear out completely, and they begin to sag a lot, and it actually happens a lot with the 4th gens that a lot of age on them and original springs.

First thing to do is find the specs for ride height and make sure that it really is low, might just seems that way after driving a truck (my E350 makes my Accords feel like go carts). Also, I have had the front springs break on two of my 4th gen Accords, one of them in less than 90,000 miles. Both were near the last coil on the bottom of the spring. If it really is low, best way to restore height is a set of new springs.

The information you gave is extremely vague. You say the car sits too low but did not indicate how low or if it gradually got low. Now if in fact the shocks/springs did go bad anybody who owns a car should know the problem has to be something with the suspension. The smart thing to do would be to bring the car to a certified mechanic to diagnose the issue THEN come here to ask questions.
Seems to me that speedbumps are an issue because you are used to flying over them in your trucks.

Shyte if were talking about 90,XXX miles + go ahead and do the Timing Belt/Water pump etc. while you're at it, that shoulld be done every 60 - 100,000 miles or every 7 - 10 years anyways..
If you want the car to last a long time then Take care of it and it WILL take care of you..

mark2583, she already stated that the car was not originally hers. How would she know if the car gradually got lower when she didn't own the car? She also did not ask "why is my car so low", but actually asked how to go about raising the height of the car. There is absolutely no reason to assume she doesn't already know it's a suspension-related problem. And for some people, the smart thing to do is to ask questions first, before taking the car to any mechanic. I mean after all, it doesn't cost anything to ask a question, does it?
ddland0917, as already stated by others, new springs and struts and you should be good to go.
You guys in a bad mood, or do you just like being ********?

Ok capt defender
The car was not originally hers yes, but its been in the "family" for 17+ yrs... A "family" member she knows must have noticed this and could have been able to give some background. She also did not ask why her car was so low but her statement suggested that it was too low or lower than the average height of a car.
"There is absolutely no reason to assume she doesn't already know it's a suspension-related problem".
Are you kidding me?? I guess you did not read the part where she said speedbumps were an issue. Does that mean it bounces too much, bottoms out or does not handle speedbumps and driveways like a truck would? Who knows. She already said she was a truck/SUV girl. There is nothing wrong with asking questions but asking vague or questions that you already know the answer for makes no sense.
our honda has been in family since day one, and wifes mother also took it back to honda for everything, I mean everything, even wiper blades....so the belts, all of them been changed incl, timing...thanks
