My custom made Compomotive ML's came today. Really pleased with them. Just need to get the engine and 5 speed tranny in now

At the moment, none

I got the engine out recently and primed the engine bay





and got the first coat of basecoat on last weekend.





I'm putting a Frankenstein engine in and ditching the Hondamatic for a 5 speed manual transmission.

The engine will be an 1983 EN4 short motor 1335cc with a 1973 EB1 "S" head, Twin Keihin CV carbs, ITG intake and a slightly Lightened Stock Flywheel.
Compression will be around 12:1 and HP around 100.

I just got the Flywheel back last week. Its now down to 13lb.....Unlucky for some

Depends on your perception of hi HP.

1. The stock car is 50hp, This is going to be around 100HP so thats double stock.

2. This swap was free, I bought a 2nd Gen Civic salloon for $75, parted the car out and made a few $100 and it left me with a free engine and transmission.

3.Although i like to make the car solid and clean its all done on a budget and i allways do all the work myself to keep the costs down. Swapping a Vtec in is beyond my buget at the moment. The main thing is to get rid of the Hondamatic 2 speed tranny and this is the cheapest way to do it.

I have alot more appreciation for you and your car now that I see what you have been through. I might even say that I got it easy with my little 75. I just have a couple of small dent's that need some TLC.

Well we had summer today so i managed to get some work done

First i finished the engine bay paint with 4 coats of clearcoat. Its far from perfect but i need to get the engine back in and any imperfections can be dealt with with the engine in situ.

Next i fitted my Fast and Furious EXEDY RACING clutch



Look how the old clutch compares to the EXEDY





A NOS mainshaft makes a great clutch alignment tool.



Almost ready for dropping back into the car. I would have liked to have tarted it up some more but i need to get back on the road. The summers for driving





Here's Dr. Christoph's patented EN engine to SB1 chassis engine bracket which allows you to uses the stock torque rod. 8)

Today i "massaged" the cross member to clear the down pipe before i dropped the engine and transmission in. Now its in i still dont think i have enough clearance so it'll have to be massaged some more

Here's the cross member before.



And after i had massaged it with the gas axe.



Good news is its finally in.



Here's a shot showing how the EN to SB1 bracket works with the stock torque rod.

That's an EN engine? What the hell is that? A 1200? Crossflow head? Dual carb? Was that sold in the US? Was your car a CVCC model or something? That thing is gorgeous as hell, so super clean!! Me wants! Nice job on the bodywork too. Those air cleaner stacks are quite interesting! I've got a set that look very similar for my DCOEs that let you run downdraft airfilters.

I dont have any pics of the compomotives fitted as the car needs to be on axel stands while i fit the exhaust and work out the transmission shift linkage.

The EN4 is a 1335cc engine the same as the non cvcc EN1 2nd gen civic but features twin keihin cv carbs that was also used in the 2nd gen "s" model.
I dont think the US got it.

For the inlets to the carbs i'm using a blank base plate that i will drill to fit and an itg foam filter.

I am using a the JC40 kit from ITG.

You can buy the base plate undrilled. I will measure it and drill two 57mm holes to mount the baseplate on the intakes. I can route crancase ventilation into the base plate.



Then i will fit the "megaflow" filter on top.
