Default 00 LS Case on 00 ITR JDM Bellhouse

Anybody see a reason why a LS case won't fit on the ITR bellhouse??? Theoretically they are exactly the same except for the shim thickness.

alright, when I place the ls case over the itr gearstack ot binds. I am able to get the snap ring on place but the 2 cases do not come together fully. at that point the drive shaft cannot be turned by hand. obviously it's bound or compressed somewhere. I tried the countershaft shim from the itr case, same results. any ideas on what's binding??

Update:
Spent the Weekend rebuilding the tranny. Took awhile to figure out the problem with the LS case but got it. It wasn't the LS case. The outer/upper differential bearing was not shimmed properly, had overheated and was oblonged. This prevented the case from seating all the way down. To answer any future questions, yes the cases are interchangeable!
