Default d15b turbo 8lb or b16! what to do? need input.

I need input, not flaming.

ok i have a stock (jdm vtec) d15b in my car right now, and a friend of mine has given me a turbo set up for the car. I have been wanting more power out of my car for some time now. So I was going to boost the engine at 8lbs, and have it tuned. But I would like to get the car barr'd for the turbo set up in it, but there are no c.a.r.b. stickers on anything I have. The only resone I want to barr' the car is because I live in Cali. I dont know if I can even get barr'd for turbo.

So I was looking in to selling the turbo set up and buying a b16 swap. I know I can get this barr'd because lots of people have B-series barr'd.

This is the cheapest place I can find a full B16 swap that I can pick up.
http://hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000...age&item=30005

so here are my questions:
1. Can I get my d15b turbo barr'd?
2. Would I be better off getting a B16 and getting that barr'd
3. Anyone know were I can get a full B16 swap for less then this. I live in Riverside county.

Thats all and thanks for looking over my thread.

B16: Fast
D15 Turbo: Faster

Hmotors is the best place IMO for engines. Especially if you live in cali, you can go there and pick out your engine.

i dont live in cali but i think getting a car barr'd is only for engine swaps.

adding a turbo to your car is similar to i/h/e upgrades and you dont need to get barr'd for those

Will i have to get a c.a.r.b. sticker or somthing? I just dont wan't the cops to give me tickets or impound my car. I love getting my hood popped when the cop is thinking there going to get me for some thing ilegal under there and there is nothing they can do.

You can still find greddy kits that are carb legal, but your gonna spend the $$ for that carb eo number... Even with carb legal parts you still can get harrassed by cops for modifying the vehicle. My neighbor is a cop and i live in cali.. he always tells me just dont draw attention to yourself and you will be fine and this is coming from a CHP

First you should move and then you can do what ever you want. And it will probably be cheaper lol

the turbo route would probably be faster than the b16. might be less reliable but, hell its a d-series. people use them as doorstoppers at this point. easy to replace.

Yeah living down here sucks *****. What im gonna do is get an ls swap and get it barred. Then go lsv. If they pop me i have the permit and they might not be able to tell.

I was also thinking of going turbo D but im stumped as to pigs and all. Plus i drive my car anywhere from 150-200 miles a day. So im more prone to cops. Im indecisive as to what to do. If anything you can let me have that turbo and ill boost my **** up....LOL

I live in Cali also. I think you should just sell that turbo kit you have right now and put a little extra money to get a carb legal greddy turbo kit. Just my opinion. Single V-turbo at 8lbs over stock B16 any dayyy.

turbo the D will be fast and reliable if tuned correctly and as fast as if u had a K swap. 210hp on stock block is very achievable. Cali does suck you could always buy my carb legal edelbrock certificate.......

Yeah looking over everything I think I'm going to go with the B16 and get it barr'd. I looked at the edelbrock turbo kit and its $3500, I can get my B16 full swap for $2000. So I thinking I'm going to go with that. I'm happy its easy to do an engine swap, so I dont have to pay for that. =P

IMO b16 feels like a fast(er) single cam...
but i think if you were to go b series your options are greater then if you stick with d series.

dont get me wrong, even when i had a d series with a greddy turbo, it was fun, but def. lacked the power of a GSR for example.

i recently picked up another civic and no doubt about it, im already building a ls-v for it.

Yeah I was going to get a ls swap and get that barr'd then go ls/v but I think i just wont to go with the B16, for now that is. If i didn't live in cali this wouldn't be a problem. I might be moving to Oregon in the next 3 to 5 years. What are the laws there about all this?
