im looking at buying an 03 type s but i was wondering how to tell which k series was in the car. the guy at the dealership is telling me the guy who traded it in said it had a recent motor swap with 30,000 miles on it but he knows nothing about hondas so he's not sure what motor is in it or if it even has a swap at all. where is the engine code on a k series located? its def. not the type r since the valve cover is still gray but i dont want to get stuck with a 160hp rsx with a 6 speed tranny and paying for 200 horses.

 

looking at the valve cover, on the left side (a sticker on timing chain cover) will be a barcode and "K20A2"for the type-s engine

there is one on the block as well, look close the tranny below the throttle body, might have to clean it off, or use flashlight to see it
