Default Overheating!

Alright ive mentioned this before in my other rants recently due to my head swap....(d16a6 head mpfi conversion on a d15b2)

My car overheated like once ever before I did this so Im not sure what it could be.......but help me out

I replaced the headgasket with the thicker then OEM honda gasket, and new headbolts
It doesnt leak or burn any coolant water.

My radiator doesnt bubble...and neither does the resoirvoir and as far as I can tell Im not losing any coolant/water

My thermostat is still old and stock......COULD THIS BE IT?? I would think it is....
When I start the car it starts cold but after about 10 min. of city driving it will go to about middle and it will maintain okay there....but If I try to take it above 40 or so...it will go up..and go back down to 3/4 the way up or 1/2 the way up if I deccelerate....or come to a stop

My 02 sensor is blown right now and im replacing it here soon......but do you think its just the thermo???

ive got a used one outta a 90 SI....ill prob. put that in....arent new ones only like 14 bucks?

Oh BTW: is there a chance the head even though it doesnt leak or burn coolant that it didnt get torqued completely down to spec so its burning somthing....my torque wrecnch sux...and I have a hard time KNOWING exactly what torque im applying

does your fan kick in? make sure it i s hooked up and wired properly. you ca always hard wire your fan to a switch so you can turn it on manually

my guess is to check the fan first to see if it switches on. if not, then the thermostat. there is a simple way you can check to see if the thermostat is in good working condition by using a pot and boiling some water
if none of these, try your radiator cap. might not be holding the pressure it should
oh and try torqueing your head down to specs. i had this overheating problem once in my old d16z6, but i had a blown head gasket so that was my problem
