I'd basically like to make this the A/C install for dummies thread.

I've looked and looked on this site as well as others and was unable to come up with much information on the subject. I saw a write up for an EG and have seen people with various A/C parts for sale and even cabin filters, etc. I've yet to see all of the information in one place or a straight forward parts list, diy or a what fits, what doesn't guide to installing A/C on an EK.

So here's what I've got. 2000 CX. Didn't come with A/C but I need it installed. I'd like to buy all of these parts off a wrecked or parted civic and install them onto mine (and it work :D.)

What parts do I need? (A/C assembly diagram would help. Part numbers would be amazing! Hell, even pictures would be great.) I assume I'm going to need the a/c controls, wiring harness, lines, condenser, evap, compressor, longer belt. That's all I can think of of the top of my head.

Which year/trim model cars can these parts come from and fit a 2000 hatch?

btw if anyone wants to sell me all or some of these items, let me know.

Use this installation guide, and work BACKWARDS. Remember that A/C is often installed at the dealer (except if it's factory A/C). It's meant to not take much time to install. This also means that what goes in, must come out. And, with relative ease, at that. Part numbers are all there, everything you need is there. I used this exact method when I removed all the parts for a 94 Civic at the wreckers.

Just glancing at those instructions, the first paragraph says that a couple parts changed from 98 to the 99 & 2000 model years. The evaporator and condenser. Does this mean that those parts from a 96-98 would NOT work on a 99-00 civic? Also on some other A/C parts sites I noticed most of them had the civics broken down to Si model and non-Si models. I assume this means that an Si A/C system won't work on a CX model. Correct?

 

I've done some more research while I had some down time today. Anyone with any experience is welcome to pitch in here.

A local honda tech says that the a/c kit from any non-vtec car from 96-00 should swap into my 00 hatch with no problem at all. The Si model for obvious reasons won't work and the hx model has misc. different parts and is a different kit as well. I'm not sure exactly what. Just looking through majestic's parts list the clutch for compressor and some volts were different threads on the hx but i didnt go too in depth.

So I should be looking for a 96-00 cx/dx model with a/c to part out and use. If anyone has it lmk!
