The two most common causes would probably be:
1.electrical problem/blown fuse, bad switch, bad a/c clutch coil
2.Significant loss of refrigerant
One of the first troubleshooting steps would be
to jumper the low pressure switch connection shown here:

Unplug the connector and jump the two wires with a paper clip..
If the compressor starts working,it needs to be re-charged.
If it doesn't,It is not getting power or the coil is bad in the compressor clutch..
