hey i got that 97 handa civic i posted up pics of i went to honda and they told me it was the stock engine that the car came with just thwe vtec head was changed to a non vtec i was wanfering that type of engine do the 97 honda civic ex come with so i can look for a vtec head pleas help......

 

it should have a sohc vtec d16y8 engine. so the easiest thing to do would be a y8 head. you could use a z6 head but then you'll have to rewire the obd1 dizzy to work with your obd2 engine harness. not that big of a deal though.

if you want to try and figure out what head you have look at the front of it, get the number letter combo, and compare it to these head codes.

i thot the engin was swaped so i took it to the honda dealer and he told me the engin is the stock engine the car was maid with and that just the head was changed to a non vtec head so do you know wear i can get a vtec head cheep

 

craigslist. if not there you could still probably find a decent deal on eBay.
