to cam or not to cam??
so i was thinking of putting an A6 cam in my rex, it has a b2 already multiported...would i see any significant gains at all? or is it not worth doing?? and no i dont want to do a B series swap at this time...thanks guys.
yes, from what i've read before, adding the si cam adds about 10-15 hp. idk if it is just the cam itself that does this or the cam w/ the mpfi conversion but either way, still a decent upgrade.
How much does this cost?
To me it doesn't seem like building the d series is the way to go with the cost of the b series these days.
Regardless, 10-15 hp is good gains from a factor cam.

10-15 HP from a camshaft on a essentially stock SOHC??? That is laughable... you don't really see those gains from a stock DOHC VTEC engine with a cam change. Even if you are talking about a VTEC SOHC (I know you are not though) with a BHP of 127, 10-15 HP would be an 8-12% or so increase in power. Then, if you look more towards the HP of your SOHC non-VTEC, you are talking a 10-15% power increase. You are just not going to see those types of gains from an essentially stock engine.
Even if the head had a major port and valve job done, Honda heads flow extremely well from the factory. There are tons of informational sites on this and I am NOT going into detail. If you were to see any true gains, you would need it to be DYNO tuned as well.
Look at this B18C with Skunk2 Tuner Cams Stage 1...

A 12.3 HP gain on a B-series VTEC... There is a reason why they do not show any DYNO results for a SOHC...
If you want more power on a stock SOHC, go turbo or nitrous (you are still talking about a maximum of around 40-50% more HP on a stock setup). Even if you go high compression the end result is still dismal... unless you are willing to shell out some serious coin.
Do what you want, it is your money.
