Suzuki to drop Gixxer?
Rumour from Japan has it that the 750 is going to be pulled from the range. Shame if so, it's more usuable than the 1000 and faster than the 600, whilst weighing little more.

I'm sure something will replace it, they'd be stupid to do this b/c they are one of the few to make that cc class if I'm correct.

More gossip is that they are going to revive the SV in a proper frame to try to eat into RSV/999 sales

the reason behind it is they new open class rules are going to allow 1000cc inlines run w/ the 1000cc vtwins instead of 750 inline V 1000 twin b/c the twins are putting out much more competetive power than in the past. This leaves the 750cc production bike w/o a racing outlet and it hurts sales. The gixxer 750 is one of the better 7s but the zx7r is definetely gone. Maybe not technically but for all intensive purposes. It hasn't been really updated since '96 or so anyways. Also the r7 has only the minimum 500 produced so those won't be consumer available. Basically w/ the superbikes handling close to the heavyweight class bikes and the middleweight bikes putting out more and more power there is really no niche for the 750cc heavyweight production bike. That's just what I got out of the whole deal. Don't worry too much, you'll still be able to pick up a zx7r for awhile and the gixxer should stay in production beyond that as there will be now real competition. It does fill the niche of bigger then middleweight power w/o superbike insurance rates which is real world applicable and has nothing really to do w/ racing. All done
