Default Rear wiper motor and left rear vent motor out -- related?

Hello-

We have a '04 Odyssey and the two following issues.
1. The rear wiper will not turn on.
2. The left rear vent window will work but only sporadically (often times it will open normally with the switch, but sometimes it will not retract).

I attempted to self-diagnose/fix the rear wiper problem first. I opened up the rear panel and exposed the motor and with a digital VOM, I was getting differing voltages to the female plug (so I figured the motor had quit). Car has about 100,000 miles.

I got a junkyard pull from a 48k mile wreck and it did not fire. I couldn't return it, as I was not sure it wasn't something OTHER than the motor.

Anyone out there have a clue? I am thinking maybe a faultly ground?
Is the Odyssey known for these things going out?

Any help/suggestions appreciated....ESPECIALLY someone with knowledge of
what voltages should be at the plug when the switch is turned.

The vent motors always go out on tis model, you will just need to replace the window vent motor(about $100 for the motor at the dealer).
You dont see the rear wiper motor go bad often, most likely an electrical issue. You need a ETM to check over the circuit starting with the fuses, connectors, and grounds.Has your van ever been in an accident?

No...No accidents...

However, I had another bad luck incident.

I replaced the brake light switch to cure a shift lock problem last night. My wife reports this morning that the cruise control is out...

if the cruise dont work, check your adjustment of the brake switch you just installed, when you press the brakes the cruise cancels,If the tab on the switch is not all the way in(with the brake pedal all the way up) it may be sending a false signal to the cruise system thinking your foot is on the brake pedal.look under there and check to see if the tab is pressed in all the way bu the brake pedal.

There is a great post on the true nature of the vent motor issue and a "permanent" fix link below (sorry for the long link!): http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...xrS1Cg&cad=rja
