Wipers stopped working, replace motor or assembly?
My front windshield wipers on my 1996 Civic CX hatchback stopped working. My mechanic said he will replace the wiper assemby, however, it seems rather expensive.
Is it possible to ask him to just replace the wiper motor(s)? Why would he do the whole assembly instead?
Thanks in advance.

the wipers move thanks to a mechanism of arms under the black cover that are powered by an electronic motor. When wipers stop working it could be due to 2 main reason, either the motor has stopped working or the arms have broken apart. My 97 civic had one of the arms pop off and it needed to be replaced. It was a cheap fix.
