New front door speakers in '00 civic
I'm looking at buying and installing new front door speakers for my 2000 civic sedan. I already have an aftermarket stereo, factory tweeters, and subs. I've had the door panels open already, so I know how to go about installing new 6.5" speakers. However, I'm wondering about one thing. Would it even be an improvement if I just wire it in to the factory harness, or should I run it all the way to the pre-amp outputs of my head unit? If so, how would I go about getting the wiring all the way from the door to the dash? Thanks.
P.S. These are the speakers:

My head unit is an Alpine CDM-7871, soon to be a Kenwood KDC-MP342U.

The HUs preamp outputs are for running a signal to an amp, [RCA leads].
If your not running an off-board amp to drive the speakers you do not need to upgrade the factory speaker wires, they are good to about 50W RMS. 94

If I just use the factory speaker wires, will the sound difference be worth the new speakers without a separate amp?
That will depend on the speakers you get and the speaker install.
How the speaker is installed will make a much bigger diff. then what speaker wire is used, or for that matter what speaker you use.
A properly installed "entry level" speaker powered by the HUs internal amp and using the stock speaker wire will outperform a higher end speaker powered by an off-board amp using the best speaker wire available if that speaker is not properly installed.
I would suggest you find a component set of speakers, [mid and tweeter] an amp with an RMS output of a little more then speakers continuous power handling, [RMS power] and run new speaker wire, [16ga], EG; if you find a set of components you like the sound of, [and will fit the car] and they are 75W continuous, find a 2x100W RMS amp to drive them, because you are over the 50W max for the stock speaker wire you will need to replace the speaker wire to get the best possible performance from the speakers, this assumes proper installation of the speakers. 94
